Yesterday was quite happening.
Canoeing in the morning-noon:
Warmups then sprints.
1st set, did my starting pulls, then wacked the water all the way. Looked down to check my torso for proper rotation, looked to the side to see Jag somewhere beside, looked forward to see OMG?! Off course! I hate the outer lane. Often get dragged out thanks to the current no matter how much I sweep. So there's Jag going in a straight line and I make a nice curve, doing who knows how much extra distance and coming in behind him.
I hate that outer lane, but what if I get it for the race? Have to get used to that damned current I guess.
2nd set, somewhere in the middle, jag and ezra collided with some other canoeists, as I happily moved through. I shot through two oncoming canoeists and then slowed down for jag to recover from his traffic jam. But, when I saw him coming up from the side and started up again it was a little too late. Ehh... on retrospect shouldn't have waited.
3rd set, Sensei decided to tag along beside us for that set. Jag went to the outer lane this time. Did my starts, then pulls, then sensei kept yelling at me to "pull harder!" and I thinking "wtf I'm pulling my haaaaaarrrrdest already!" Then felt a cramp on my right thigh. Of all times... got worse and worse but he kept yelling at me for 'more power!' so heck, just wacked, almost died and during the last 20 metres or so went a little off course and drove at the dragon boats although coming in ahead of Jag. He says he still won because I didn't go through the proper finish line tho. Yeah, I guess.
Anyway kallang basin is seriously very crowded... I think there were close to 40-50 canoes in the basin yesterday. Turning around during warmups is as good as WTF?! MUST AVOID ENEMY SKIRMISH!!!
Went to Suntec to eat with yongqiang. THEY OPENED A NEW FOODCOURT AT THE BOTTOM LEVEL!! SOOO MUCH FOOD! Ahah I almost died, didn't know what to eat yet couldn't eat too much because had dragonboat training in 1 hours time. So I settled on duckrice extra rice and egg and a nice bowl of beef ball soup. Fabulous........
Talked to Yongqiang abit, He said he was quite demoralized for the mens opens race that he was going for because he couldn't beat Jag and me. Actually that opens slot was supposed to be for me... but I managed to kickass and get upgraded to the mens ivp race with jag. Felt a little bad... He's been switching between the t and ks recently, and like Anthony said, its just not a good way to train. But I believe that he and Naresh could do well in the k events. Their K2 sped past me and sebas a couple of times today.
DB training later went quite ok. Did a couple of 1km pulls, then Ben let us go the beach and swim! Ben asked about the canoeing events I was taking part in. Then he was like "how many teams can they send for that event"? And I was like "no idea." Because I thought he was referring to all the races in general. Then I told him about the other races then he asked the question again and then I realized what he meant. "teams" meant boats or participant for that race, ala dragonboating we usually send 1 team for the ivp. So I told him only 2.
Sometimes I wonder how he's feeling about the current issues in the team. Will he feel saddened? Ben deserves so much better, I think, if you give him a team which has overall high standard of fitness or bigger numbers, I think they'd go very far. But our team has such a great difference in terms of stamina, strength, speed, numbers and inter-personal conflicts. But He's strong. I believe that he sees these extra "shortcomings" as added challenges, and he's smart enough to use what he has to win.
Made my way back to Bishan for taekwondo class, Sir Robin called a couple of days ago to ask me to take charge of the class because he couldn't make it on the day. Stupid stupid 13 took 20 minutes to come, stupid slow ass 13, and I was 30 mins late, but started the class as usual.
Did a nice long warmup, I think my stretching has improved a biiiit. Splits still suck like hell though.
Heard those familiar cheers and yays when I told them to line up in 2 rows because they knew that I was going to make them do jump/run/kick races.
Had fun during the losing team's penalty though.
Break then pattern time. Practiced my original improved pattern. Think I've been watching too much bilang.net. Then sashi came over and went "whoa... what is that?!" "damn fast lei". Taught Daryl the jumping turning kick, reverse sweep combination and botched up a scissors kick. How the heck did Vin do it >_<.
This morning woke up with quite alot of aches... haven't dragonboated in about 2 weeks thanks to chinese new year and canoeing so lower back aches a little, shoulders ache a little too. Ahhh but it'll all be gone for tomorrow's rowing again.
I'm gonna fly!
