I hate it when I pick up the weights and forget whether the previous set was my 2nd or 3rd...

Maybe I should write stuff like that down when I'm chatting online inbetween sets.

Prom was awesome.

Jintian worked there before and like... knew the people there, so we had lots of extra food!

OMIGOD ROAST DUCK!!! AND ROAST CHICKEN!!! AND THE SHARKSFIN SOUP WAS AWESOME! Drank 4 bowls ^_^, the rice at the end wasn't bad too.

Prom king and queen was a joke... only 4 girls, dunno how they anyhow selected, and I didn't see any chio bus. Although cosplaying Roxanne was damn cool to watch on stage.

The compair rocked, damn funny, kept the crowd alive throughout the whole show.

Then proceeded with the dragonboaters to the hotel room, and took a niiiiiice bubble bath. Hell yeah.

Then stoned around orchard road till like 1-2am then went to sleep.

And this damned sore throat is not getting better. I thought I'd speed things up and make it get worse by rowing today, but even after weights its annoyingly neither gotten better nor worse.

I think tomorrow during training I'll just run until I catch a burning fever and get over with this damned thing.

Saw some CJ guy training after 730pm around kallang while I was leaving. Cheer is pushing him pretty hard, I guess he really has his hopes up on that guy for the coming nationals.

But he's not getting past me.

Alots been going on recently.

Its prom tonight, whee... and I'm having a sore throat and slight fever hooray.

So fantasia's the new american idol. Diana's very good too, but alas, that small hiccup during the second last night... haiyo.

I always liked I believe. Beautiful melody, wonderful arrangement and meaning in lyrics. But when Fantasia sang it after she won... when she was on the verge of crying, the emotion in that is just... not performable, it was genuine, and that really moved me. Unbelievable.

Ruben's choice of song really sucks... wth? Its lousy niger crap.

Went to row for half an hour on thursday before rushing down to the office, then went back to row for another half an hour before heading back to the office to finish up some work.

Shows how desperate I am to row + guilty for not rowing on monday to wednesday.

Today's rowing was quite stressful. Stupid twisting and kicking, in Jaguar, its so hard to balance and my stroke was going all over the place. Until sensei told me to just concentrate on the upper twisting first then it was much better.

*sigh*
Stupid stroke....
Somedays I wonder if I'm going anyway in the K, I'm like the same bloody speed as lance in a T1 loh... if I was in redwind I'd trash them all arghhhh.

But, must be persistent in the Ks...

Tonight's run yielded a few pleasant suprises.

Firstly, no shin and knee pains, in a long time. I finally experienced an oxygen high since... I can't remember when. When you feel your legs ache but you just don't care because each breath you take in feels so good, and you just want to take deep breaths, and keep going.

At the end of my 4km I noticed the fitness corner looked particular misty, probably because ot drizzled slightly earlier and it had left the air around the grass and trees surrounding the small concrete section particularly saturated and cool.

What I didn't expect, was the huge clouds of smoke I suddenly noticed as I lay down on my spread jersey on the wooden situp bench. Then to my suprise, the bellows of smoke were being emitted from ME.

Thoroughly amused, I proceeded to wave my arms around very slowly, forming curtains of smoke, or I'd hold crunch position and smoke would rise and fall around the tip of my elbow like a volcano's crater.

By the end of my 200th crunch I was really smoking. But alas, all good things must come to an end, and I begun my journey home.

Bonus attachment is pretty fun so far. This company rocks, my colleagues are a fun bunch to hang around with, and Ivan's an excellent leader. He would share his vision to me for each project. He insists that there's no boss around the company, and that they work as a team. And apparantly such a take on running a company works pretty well. He reminds me alot like Robin from EnvRea.

Designers who know how they work best, know how other people work best and will want to fascilitate that environment for their company.

I'm not regretting my decision to take this path at all. Even though its difficult to arrange for training on weekdays. But the musical was so worthwhile to add to portfolio, and come august, I can begin training for the national squad and to beat AW. Figures my next target is singapore's fastest canoeist.

He's so huge... damnit. But I'll be ahead soon.

Reu says:
oh ya tomorrow need to bring shoes
⒭⒠ⓝⓓⓨ ⓓ⒜ⓘ says:

to throw into kallang basin....
Reu says:
OF COURSE TO RUN LAH

I really hate the stigma of dragonboaters being dumb bimbos... but sometimes I really have to worry about some of the guys...

Just got back from the canoeing coach workshop. DA is cool, I love how westerners teach. They're so expressive, they exaggerate, they joke, they laugh. Unlike some local teachers. Their image of "oh I'm so damn powerful" and "you must respect me" in the air. Which is good sometimes, but i think is hard to motivate students with as a teacher.

It was quite freaky being in the small room with so many coaches and good rowers, but sensei was there, so was quite ok.

DA went through alot of awesome points on stroke, technique, and coaching methods and drills, can't wait to try some of those drills out.

Had rowing this morning too.
Jaguar is hard as hell to row in.... I love cougar.

Rowing yesterday was damn shiok. No sun, lovely breeze, calm waters. Ahhhhh....

Stroke getting better, trying not to cross over my faceline too much during recovery, and I was going damn fast ahhh... pulling so hard.

So today, both wings ache a little hahaha.

Gyming today then db land training. Argh need to psyche up.

Tuesday, May 18, 2004

Dragonboat land training today was damn awesome.

Ben made us do 400m relay runs, fun fun fun.

I thought my running would be like utter crap due to missing training for so long but wasn't too bad after all.

Then weights and pool rowing, stroke is a little off.... hehe, but slowly getting to be like last time loh.

Oh yah, went to Bishan gym with Kenneth yesterday. Wah.... that guy know aloooooot about nutrition and training. Heck, I thought I knew alot, but I'm learning alot from him. Looks like training regimes, timings and diets can be optimized alot, I wonder where that will take me.

Ahahaha damn tired ah, Rendy returned my sweet sweet ps2, now can finish the awesome Onimusha 3.

Its taken me more than 4 days so far... I must be getting rusty.

Ahh today was the last day of the shrek shows. Had to do 5 sessions today... wah biang, the suit was like damn wet and disgusting, thankfully I don't have BO, or I would have killed myself and people would have witnessed shrek drop down and faint in the middle of nowhere.

But it was so worth it. Waving to everyone and have them respond with smiles and waves, creeping up behind unsuspecting girls to watch their priceless reactions and freak outs. And the children... some are so trusting, they'll come and hold your hand, stare with those big eyes or just come up and hug shrek's stomache, Even though the suit is so huge and is suspended a little by some sort of hinge system which is resting on the inner vest, you can still feel the squeeze as their tiny arms try to wrap around the belly and hug.

And there are always those kids who are so curious and want to poke and prod shrek, to find out if he's real, and try to pull his hands off. But my hands were firmly gripped on the inside. The compere was really fun to interact with, Shrek will miss him.

I used to think all kids were attention seeking, noisy little brats. But seeing those rare gems today, well, some kids who are properly raised do turn out well.

Friday, May 14, 2004

Shrek was damn fun to play as.

I kinda like Shrek alot cuz unlike most modern day heroes, kids look up to him for whats inside, not how he looks. Hell, anyone who never saw the movie before may even think he's scary. There're no physical standards for them to set for themselves too, so they see him for his character instead.

Anyway the suit is daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn big ah. The stupid thing cost 24k SGD loh... but its damn professional. Even with the aircon blasting at IMM I felt like I was in a sauna.

Ahhh but the reactions you get from kids is priceless. Usually their eyes light up! And to see them stare into your eyes thinking they are looking at Shrek, is really cool. Although some kids who were being carried got a little scared.

Then touring the mall there was this chiobu who kept peering into shrek's mouth hole to try and get a glimpse of me. She went "Can see inside? I bet he looks real cute." Ahahaha chio bu ah, next to shrek, anyone would look real cute loh.

The show went well, was sweating like hell and was damn glad when Shaun and Stanely helped get the suit off. Whew.

Went rowing at kallang yesterday. Met Al in the waters! The difference in standard between my 2 month old K1 rowing experience and his 7 devoted years to rowing is damn scary. How the hell can he maintain that rate and power for 6-9km? Argh... I'll keep up with him soon enough.

While washing up some ex national team rower borrowed the hose. We talked for abit, turns out he's chinese high's coach. Damn nice guy, he asked if I thought of joining the national team and offered contacts if I ever needed them.

Ahh... why is it so hard to find such nice people nowadays?

Quickly rushed down to school for land training after that. Winston said I got fatter, frick! Time to up my cardio program. We did pool rowing. My wing and back almost died... maximum NR rowing for 1000+ strokes is killer.

On the way back I bore witness to a travesty.

Watching TV mobile, La Toya got kicked off from American Idol.

WTF is wrong with them stupid americans.... can't figure them out sometimes. Jasmine's skills aren't even half on par with La Toya, geez. Damnit, that diva had better get a contract. She's too damn awesome, stupid voters, shame on you!

I now leave you with an angry rant against spyware.

Stupid gay companies should get shot for planting all these spyware all over the place. There's spyware that sits in windows media player, or even notepad, stealing cd keys, or credit card numbers, or anything you type for that matter.

They can leech information, or syphon data to your computer for larger hijacker programs.

They can hide from your tasklist or processes, or even startup list.

So please, all of you go get spybot AND adaware, update both of them and delete all the spyware from your com now.

Spread the word on how to counter this nonsense and hopefully they'll give up.

Yesterday I followed Jason and Kor to some... realllllllly weird mens apparel shop to pick up the clothes for the "wild cherry ladies night" fashion show at a joint.

Oh yes, you can tell by the name can't you? Hahaha Thank god I'm not doing that show... I think I'll drop dead on stage with some of the stuff they're gonna wear... or lack off... I can't imagine the shows for gay night. Omigod.

Went gym + swimming during the break and met an old old friend. Javier from secondary school. Wah biang... some people never change sia.

I'm playing shrek tomorrow *grins*. Time to terrorize some little children!

btw, the musical pieces are up at long long last: http://www.reubenkee.com

Just got back from my first fashion show cum mothers to be beauty pageant at park mall.

It was fun but at times, DAMN STRESSFUL AH!

Clothes sponsored by hang ten was pretty cool, the camera part was pretty lame, geez it was hella lame, and remembering the choreography... plus insufficient rehearsals, plus forgetful "mom to be"s, who were supposed to go off stage before us but just froze there so we went off first.

And we're supposed to "smile" and "look alive"... or else as Raphael, the french director who was incharge of the event would say casually "I will fucking kill you."

wtf?

Oooooohhhhh we got to see super models tho! Oh my god, they're all about 1.8m? And their catwalk was daaaamn steady arh, especially that super chio ang moh girl. The way she kicked during the catwalk was like... level 99 catwalk skill.

But the worst part was the prize giving when I had to escort and pass the prizes to the guest of honor. Raphael tells me to do one thing, then Kor tells me to do another thing... super major mix up ah.... then Kor kept scolding me for looking dumb and blur on stage because he didn't know Raphael asked me to show the winners to the stage corners.

And Wendy Jacobs was there! Wah.... chio chio, and the chio bu winner from the face competition 2004! Wendy giggled when the super models wearing maternity clothes and the fake pregnant stomach went up on stage to do their segment. Although we fell for it... I guess it takes a mother to tell eh?

I used to think chio bus were pretty rare in singapore, but seeing all these super models and models uhh.... kinda makes personality a little more appealing now.

Stoned around in the water sports clubroom for awhile in the morning yesterday, I really wanna find out who the wise guy is who decided to take the half of the padlock to the weights room away, now no one can get in...

Helped out Kor in Funan for a while before we went to Bishan gym with Kendrick and Jason. Then Kor, Jason and Kendrick went to swim while Dennis arrived and I continued to gym with him. Was laughing with Jason about the swimming thing earlier... Kendrick was like damn nervous cuz of what Kor brought for him to wear. It seems all of us kenah what Jason called the "Initiation" before.

Damn tired ah, headed home after that for a nap, then woke up to play Onimusha 3. Wah... the pacing of that game is.... damn great.

Busy day today.

Friday, May 07, 2004

Went gym with her yesterday and had a blast. I wonder...

I'm sort of in slack mood now or something. Managed to churn out a couple of pieces but can't do any game designing yet.

Well, meeting with the dragonboat peeps later in school for training. Hope the exams haven't made everyone fat haha. Kor's supposed to call too, will be looking forward to that.

Me and Cougar are getting faster and faster everyday! Woooooosh~!!!!

Had a blast, today's weather was perfect! Dark clouds, light drizzle all the way then a mild sunset. My technique is getting alot better too, and Cougar behaved in the calm waters.

After that went to meet manager. Met Jason, Kendrick and Kenneth. He took us out to eat at Genki Sushi, and had curry chicken bowl. Curry kicked ass, but the chicken.... kinda too much skin and too little meat. Its fun going out with the boys because 4 very tall, big guys attract alot of attention from the girls *grins*. Kendrick was another new guy, whew, felt very relieved to have him around to talk to, not that the other guys aren't friendly.

Went to manager's place for training after that with Kendrick. All I can say is, we've never been so stressed out walking before. Learning to catwalk is like learning to walk all over again. Have to keep so many things in mind, like fingers positioning, head tilt, posture, chest out, walking speed, half turn routine, round turn routine.... but it was pretty fun after awhile.

He then gave me alot of advice on how to work on the lesser points in my physique. Damn professional. Kinda cautious about this whole thing tho... my "do it all or don't even try" attitude would probably make me want to perfect this area as well.

O well, have a date with "her" tomorrow! Let the dieting and new routines begin.
Well I met up with my manager today. Funny how he got my contacts, he's a.... unique guy I'll tell you that. Quite scary at times, but if Rendy and Sebas could survive I sure as hell can too.

Quite impressive of a contacts list he has. Organizing pageants, fashion shows, competitions, all internationally. Worst part is he's mad about me or something.... thank god Jason was there today or I think I would have freaked out. Today was amusing actually, Jason who did so many shoots and won "the face" competition awhile back dressed up in a huge shrek costume and walked around tampinies mall for a short event. Kind of reminds you why you're doing this sometimes, you don't care about the image at times, screw the ego, don this huge costume which bakes you like an oven inside, and make the buck, and the job.
Its amazing how kids eyes light up when they see shrek. How the girls go "whoa!" and how some women head for cover. Then when those sillly muts tried to punch soft shrek, you could see Manager's protective eyes staring at them.

So I'm going to try out this industry a little. Theres training tomorrow for grooming and walking which is pretty guniang... but should be fun nonetheless. But first, finish the music for the 2 short films, and go to kallang and row.

Norain came over to record today, we did Path of Redemption. Which was really fun. She has an interesting style and I'm very pleased with the results, although need to get her back another day for fine-tuning of the song.

Oh well, busy day tomorrow.

Monday, May 03, 2004

Rowing on Sunday was quite solemn.

The skies were dark, perfect for rowing, it drizzled a little, rained a little, poured toward the end.

On one side of kallang basin is the closed of road section due to the nicole highway incident. Can see their barriers and police lines, they even closed the damn toilet, to much the horror of many canoeists.

Then on the opposite side of the basin, some kind of gathering for the deceased or something. It was huge, spreading from the police coast guard to no signboard seafood restaurant. Then that loud ominous taoist death song or something playing over the whole of kallang basin along with the dark and gloomy weather. Oh brother.

Played uo alot this morning and afternoon. Sweet sweet holidays. Woke up at 6:40am tho....

Working with the film students is pretty hectic. Lots of changes being made and lots of changes to make warrrgh.....

But it'll turn out fine.

Went to the weights room at 8pm to do some weights and met Jag wandering around the changing rooms.

And lo and behold! Some smart ass decided to remove the half of the combi lock and the key and left the air con on in the weights room. Crazy people!

Prompty reported to Ivan then headed to the school gym, did one station and Jag got kicked out for wearing slippers.

Thus ended an unfruitful day of training.

Argh... tomorow will be better.

I'm 77kg now, wth?
