Yesterday after training, I thought the bugger abit pissed at me when I said hi and he didn't reply.

Felt relieved when we started chatting on the way to gm haha.

Then today bugger msged me in the morning to meet up together to go for the surf and sweat. Which was damn fun haha. We went to watch the other events, trying to plan and strategize. Also laughed at the "sinking titanic" maneuvars which some people executed on their surf boards by lying too far towards the front of it until the tip starts dipping into the water.

The surf part was... a little cold... at first bugger and some ang moh took a huge lead, then bugger overtook ang moh, then slowly caught up, but we ended up intercepting the detour which went ahead of us and I got sandwiched between bugger and some random guy.

So I let bugger go first.... but still caught up at the end.

Anyway... I dunno how people run without their socks. Running with socks is like so comfy loh....

Dragon trail was damn funny.

I accidentally rammed into a peacock which was trying to cross the road on my way down a hill... sending it spinning behind me. It was damn comical loh... was abit afraid it would run after me and retaliate. But seriously, how could it have not seen a large human heading towards a collision course to it? Stupid bird.... serve it right :p

Ended up 27 seconds behind bugger.

Which isn't too bad.... but erm... he stopped to tie his shoelaces twice. Well I had to put on my socks too haha

Ok damn tired liao.

Well, at least my 4.8km run is improving abit....

Thursday while running on the pavemented walkway along merdeka bridge, was looking at the tiles....

And it donned that if I take smaller but quicker steps, the tiles would somehow wizz by at a faster rate.

Marvelous.

And its somehow easier loh..

Clocked 23:32 that day, at quite a comfortable pace... cept the ending. I think if chiong can get 22 plus.

Today rowing test.

Sians.... didn't do too well.

First set led boon san by one boat, but second set lost by one boat back.

Haiz....

Ran 4.8 before training today.

Sucks man, timing sucked like sai. shit shit shit.

Rushed through pullups and twisting then was rowing.

Learned alot from some of the super experienced rowers.

- KowLoon's explaination of of the supporting hand's centre of power and angle of recovery.

- Coach's theory of less twisting, more rocking

Oooh... I'm a professional coxswain liao hahaha. " Professional: Performed by persons receiving pay: professional football. "

Coach got lobang so I can earn some cash. 17.5bucks per hour anyone? lol

Hopefully with this and the philips job i can get an mp3 player or something at long last. Ahuahuahua.

Was quite shocked to hear Kowloon say that his tpdb boys recognize me as the nyp c... there goes my low-profile image -_-;

Speaking of which, I just find it so amusing that the twins, Daniel and Derrick are the c of sp and ngeeann respectively. I mean... twins.... in seperate schools firstly, in opposing teams, and in the c position. How weird is that?

And.... seems like there are some thieves hanging around nyp stadium.

Better not let me find out who they are or else I'll lay down the righteous smackdown of my pure and innocent palm on their narrow-sighted asses. -_-

Anyway, now with some of the rowers in teamS going for their school or club trainings.... I'm considering taking a weekday off from teamS training to drop by teamNYP training... and make it a weekly thing. Hahaha.

I've been away long enough for Louis and Dennis to function independantly without me, and the time would have been sufficient for them to find their own way to run things. So it would be safe to drop by now I guess.

Till I go in on april 8th lah.

Anyway Delson said he'll help me check what section I'm in.

I wonder what that means... XD

sian.... no inspiration for this stupid sequence...

blargh.

Sunday, January 23, 2005

Damn tired ahh....

Today followed Andy, Keith, Kelward, Weiwen and Stephen for weights.

Keith very hiong... Stephen even worse.

Can't believe we did so heavy....

struggle like sai haha.

Saw Sensei and had a talk before heading down to the dragonboat.

Haiz.... nowadays I dunno what I want also.

After rowing there was a super run bi-athlon haha. Jump out of the dragonboat, swim to the other team's boat, and race back to SDBA. Loser does 100 pushups.

I just knew that we were going to all do the punishment anyway regardless of who lost lah. Hahaha. But the comments were damn funny.

Went to the super crowded queensway with teamnyp guys. SUPER CROWDED AH. I hate crowds. I hate the hot sun. I hate both of them combined with stuffy air conditioning.

1 hour plus trip there from dhoby ghaut and I didn't buy any clothes....

Then went to ps to watch Elektra. She's so chio haha.

Some fight scenes were damn good. But the schizo-fidgity camera work during the boss fight really sucked lah. Mini bosses all killed with one hit. wtf?

Played the punching game.

No energy to punch lah haha. Cannot run, cannot twist, cannot snap fast, CANNOT AIM hahahah.

damn tired now.

Shoulder ache, butt ache.

Finally will have a good rest tonight.

And plenty of MEGAMAN X8!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Saturday, January 22, 2005

Took leave from training today to head down to the open house.

Patrick already say I chao keng haha :p
Can't wait to hear about what terrible things happened, tomorrow.

Brought a frisbee and watergun down to the open house.

Seems every time I bring a toy for the team to play with it ends up getting spoilt.... haha by ANTHONY!!!!

First my basketball, internal pump got busted and missing. Now the watergun which I 'won' during a previous camp focus had the water container blown out of shape due to over-pumping.

Haiz.

Played basketball after the open house. Anthony's playing style is very terrible.... can't stop laughing sometimes....

Hope I can get to sleep alright tonight.... and not be zombified during tomorrow's morning training.
Ok, just ran 2.4km to make up for the shitty choice for dinner.

Order has been restored.

Was supposed t be 4.8 actually, breathing, pacing was excellent, but at the 1.8km mark, very bad stomache ache. See how poorly it digests? Ugh.

Just had a good shit.

Thursday, January 20, 2005

Went down for the open house these two days. No injuries from tug of war..... hooray.

Left them two tubs of glucolin. Hope that Louis and Dennis remember about it. Felt sucky leaving them to go to kallang for training.

Damn sian to type....

- Did 130 pullups during training on tues....

- Crazy SA officers made me an honorary SA officer just to help them pull tug of war against the students today hahaha.

-Volleyball is fun.

- Learned alot from Hee, especially during supper time.

- Had a mother of a stitch during run today, was the worse I had in my life. Dunno what caused it also. Cancelled my 4.8km run and did 2 1.2km runs instead. Later when I found out that some of the guys did 4.8 during the otot run, damn stressed....

- Patrick was giving free haircuts at sdba.... XD

-Did speed drills today. The speed of the boat is very scary. Never felt a d24 fly so fast before.

- Accidentally made Patrick fall down at the end of training by rocking the boat while trying to get to the pontoon. Big bump on his head and painful knees... very sorry Patrick.

Sunday, January 16, 2005

Upon retrospect, yesterday's run was quite amusing. Was singing an auto-looping alternating medley of "shit I'm going to die" and "you can do miracles when you believe" from the prince of egypt.

I was almost looking forward to a nice easy run, followed by weights and fun rowing today.

Almost....

Couldn't sleep last night... i think I dozed on and off till about 2am... then kept waking up.....

So yeah, it could've been so easy to pontang training.... not enough sleep, sore legs. But that would be taking the easy way out doh.

Dragged myself to sdba....

I hate morning run. But it was cloudy so that wasn't so bad.

Then was weights. Maybe weights is the only part of training that I look forward to. Ok, weights, pullups and rowing. Trying to learn how to enjoy running but its difficult with the current regime -_-;

Jia Qi's insane. We did up to 22.5kg per side for some stations haha.

Then was rowing. Err.... 6km nonstop for warmup. Patrick's sarcastic comments are really damn funny haha. Arm went numb for awhile.... second round when morale was really low alot of funny comments came out.

During the last 1km Jia Qi broke down....
Sprained his back or something... couldn't straighten. Had to move him to the pontoon where some of the guys tried to help him stretch. Was damn bad... stretching there for so long.

Then coach went to bring a container of ice to put on the back... and an umbrella to cover the ice from the sun. XD

I wasn't looking forward to practicing standing strokes again, especially after doing squats. But its getting better lah.

This weekend's training was quite insane... but...

I think I sprained my lungs or something again...

When I breathe in too deeply I feel like coughing. Its better now tho.

Saturday, January 15, 2005

Was helping Patrick to fix the lights in the room until late for training....

had to rush through the pullups.

Abit blur... ended up doing 6 sets instead of 5.

Then....

IN THE DAMN BLAZING HOT SUN.

Ran 4.8km. Then 2.4km wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf.

Past first bridge.. then another bridge.... then esplanade.... then the race site... then raffles mrt station.

Damn stressed.... terrible terrible....

Legs gone liao... climbing down the stairs after the run legs almost gave way.

After the run took a piss and it was so hot haha erm... damn painful XD

Then had to go and tow a dragonboat....

Then did standing stroke.... very shacked.

Mom cooked BEEF RENDUNG for lunch today.

Which was damn nice.

But also damn unhealthy argh.

Went to school and played some basketball.

Played 2 games, then went to qie some gi-nas... damn tired, lost.

Did weights, then rushed down with Dennis and Melvin to j8 to eat at Yoshinoya and meet Jasmine and Janice.

Haha so cute.... purposely pronouncing her name like that so that they sound more similar.

Could sense something was wrong with him. So called him up to watch the movie with us.

The Phantom of the Opera was awesome.

The renditions of the themes so well done. Although one part where they used the "clap" "clap" in the arrangement was quite comical... although I don't think it was intended that way, laughed anyway.

Somewhat relieved that they left out the decapitated heads during the opening victory scene. Very interesting how they elaborated on some scenes too.

Heard about what happened to the phone.

Sad that some people's backstage personas would be so short-sighted.

That person probably thought that no one would see.

There are some things in kallang that you can only see in the evenings.

And if only you look hard enough.

This week I've been trying to study the helter-skelter mass of liquid known as the water in kallang basin.

At first I always thought that I could read the currents more or less.

But recently I've realized that I've only been reading surface current. Which is usually very different from what you pull - the under current.

Yes, the under current is readable. Maybe the angle that the sun sets that makes the light refract and tint the waters was what made me realize.

Usually when you look at the water and see the waves, you only see the surface current. Caused by a clash of channels of water, or usually the wind.

The current which you really need to take note off, what you will be affected by during rowing, is just underneath that.

Sometimes when its windy you can try to see the smaller ripples amidst the large waves. That's the real current.

Clashing channels are harder to read, especially in the distance.

You have to relax your eyes, look at the whole picture, as you would one of those 3d illusions, to spot the harmony in the mess of ripples. Usually at these points there will be duo directional flow if the angle of collision is less than 90 degrees, in which case, the predominant side will become obvious several meters away from contact point, depending on the velocity of the flow.

Still learning new things about the waters after rowing for close to 4 years.

Training today was super shiok.

Did 4km warmup in the k1 before training.

Then we did solo baby boat rowing again.

Haiz... first set had to have a partner... I hate it when coach tries to make things easier for me. I can row just as fast as the other guys!

Last set was awesome, managed to row by myself. During the end I saw the other 2 boats trying to catch up from behind, then did my charging and pulled away! Hahahaha. Was damn high. Charging power applied to this new stroke really rocks! Ahuahuahauhua!

But err.... seems my palm cannot adjust to the flick up ending in time. After the charging felt a sharp pain in my left palm and... there was a piece of skin jutting out 3 cm high... leaving a big hole in the centre of the palm.

Ouchy....

Didn't think I could complete the pullups after that due to the injury, but it seems.... I can do pullups without letting my palm have any contact whatsoever to the bar. Hooray!

Thus endeth today.

Wednesday, January 12, 2005

Just finished my 5km run.

or maybe it was 4.9km.... bloody traffic light, screw up my timing and pace.

Went to RI track to run. Umm... the lane 1 got some kind of weird patchwork... at the 190m mark there...

Tried swinging hips more like cap suggested... bwahahha tire out very fast ah XD can only make a 2min round liddat. jialat. Maybe stick to my old technique better.

Calves abit sore.... think its the ergo from this afternoon.

Think I should try to complete xenosaga, ffX-2, or star ocean.

Damn rpgs... so fricking long.

Anyway, I've made alot of friends who are alumni of the teams who are in the ivp category. Still think its stupid, how some ppl resent certain teams because of certain incidents. Still remember when some of the guys were spewing nonsense about not being on good terms with np.

I've had nothing but respect for the other teams, and nothings changed.

Went to do weights today at yck gym with ter and pat.

Uhh.... quite crazy. Did the ergometer. I think I'm going to fail the ergo test loh. 1km in that time.... crazy. And the stupid ergo machine in school is busted, dunno how to train. And if train ergo in the stupid clubfitt gyms will get heart cold because of the stupid aircon.

Shit lah.

Was supposed to row today. But didn't. I think I'm damn slacked in canoeing now.

Die die die. How to race in march like this? Shit lah.

Captain's away or something.... wonder if I should take this opportunity to sneak out and visit teamnyp. Really miss them sia.

Geez, but then some part of me would feel that would be slacking, and will be a compromise to training.

ARGH.

Seems like the recent downage of suprnova.org and several other high profiled torrent tracker sites has affected the inflow of authentically-compromised ps2 games.

Met up with Dennis Melvin Andy and Junwen on sunday for dinner and a movie. Dennis was very crazy... driving me mad playing around with Junwen's camera phone in the TOILET... -_-* Umm.... seed of chucky is a weird show. And saw the trailer for phantom of the opera.... argh I wanna watch...

Finally got off my arse and finished another design for the school's orientation.

The weather's abit screwed up nowadays, but I like it. Love the dark cloudy skies and spastic showers.

Yesterday evening the tide at kallang was really low. Like damn low.... so low that one of the police coast guard's ships got stuck while trying to head back to dock. Damn funny.... it was throwing up very dark murky mud behind it as it very slowly inched forward, then when they had to give the engine a rest, the ship would drift them back to square one.

The guys very bad sia, kept pointing and making fun of it hahaha. Someone suggested we take a boat out and row past and wave hi. Then ah hee walked down into the mud and found a watch... XD

Getting used to the 5 sets of 15 pullups before training on weekdays.

Rowing with them can be quite scary. We did 2 by 2 rowing of the baby boat today, pacing with each other for 1k sets.

Back with ny I know that if we were to do something like this I would probably come in first. But... had to row like hell just to stay on par with the other boats yesterday. And they were rowing like hell too. ZhenLong is an awesome rower. I can't believe we kept up with the 3 person boat during that last set.

I've developed a deep respect for alot of the rowers there. Even those who may not look like they are at their physical peak, the technique and the surge that results is amazing. And alot of nice strokes that I'm slowly learning to emulate. Stephen's super fast flick, Zhilin's zero splash entry where the water suddenly surges up 3 seats behind.

My legs aren't aching today, so its a good time to go for a run!

Sunday, January 09, 2005

Ok, so yesterday's run was shortened to a 4.8k run due to the rain.... though we ran in the rain anyway -_-

So far pullups and weights are fine.

I think I would be dying if I didn't push myself to do more than the usual training program last time. So hoorah!

Really not used to the cooldowns..... everyone is like talking amongst themselves and having a good time while the cap is giving the command for stretching. Have to keep reminding myself to shut up and not echo....

But once in the boat... everyone is so quiet... and the jerk from just the first stroke is amazing!

Oh, and there was recess after running and weights just now, before rowing. How shiok is that?! :D

Learning alot of stuff about rowing too.

And the standing stroke is killar....

First few sets my leg damn shacked....

then my back damn shacked.... almost slipped at fell onto andy...

then both my back and leg damn shacked... almost slipped and fell OUT OF THE BOAT. XD

then slowly getting better, only back shacked.

Lucky got Andy beside me to guide and the super experienced coxswain to give me pointers.

and... there's a Rueben in the team.... so lots of confusion.

some of the guys starting to call me Reuben Junior... argh. I'm like the only one in there who hasn't gone to ns yet...

Haiz.... yesterday Boon San disturbed ben. Walau... then when weiwen tried to shut him up, Boon san said something like, now Ben act dao to us because we are 'higher up' than him.

Sians.... sometimes he anyhow run his mouth, but thats really rude loh.

Should always remember your roots, and respect your teachers, even if hes not coaching you anymore -_-;

Saturday, January 08, 2005

omgwtf.

Just spent the last few minutes blowing my shoes with the hairdryer.

Because the cap is crazy.... make us run 4.8km in the rain.

And tomorrow morning got running again.

damn tired.

Friday, January 07, 2005

Back ache, leg ache today.

Tired.

Met Dennis and Anthony for weights in school.

Still sad that I won't be able to join the team for sea training tomorrow. At the least I expected to be able to. But now it seems that even that won't be possible.

Maybe its for the better, in a way. Have to remind myself why I had to make this transition in the first place.

I'm not going to freak out about tomorrow's program. I'm going to wear the super silver shoes and with billy bowerman's blessing prance as gracefully as a deer during the run.

Yeah! hahahaha.

Thursday, January 06, 2005

I'm going to die on saturday....

First day with the new team today. Firsly, was waiting for weiwen. But weiwen put me on aeroplane! arghhhh! Luckily got boon san around, then met the coach.

Pullups was fine....

There's one guy.... ridiculously light, ridiculously small..... does pullups as easily as picking your nose.... as fast as a para para dancer on high difficulty. Amazing.

Then was rowing... Uhh.... coked up the coxwain part.... but got the hang of it after awhile. I can now cox with a rudder and a paddle haha. Rowing was sucky.... one person per baby boat.... but didn't come in last! ahahahaha. :p

Then was the level 4 jack knives... manageable.

But the squats after that..... it was the least number of reps during the whole program but I thought my legs were going to fail me. Seriously, last rep... almost couldn't come up argh.

Haha soon will have big strong legs! XD

They're all really friendly.

Even the coach is.... friendlier than bugger by leaps and bounds. Can talk to him quite easily. He recognizes me apparantly, from dragonboat races but more so from canoeing. Apparantly he thought that I was in the canoeing N team. :o

The captain is.... huge.

Which wouldn't be so scary, BUT, he's about my height. Which then makes it frickin scary.... because he's about two times my size...

Training on sat is at 4. Was damn sad to hear that.

Haiz... will see them in another boat I guess.

But shit.... there's a 4.8k run then a 2.4k run before rowing. wtf. I'm going to die.

Will fight on.

Wednesday, January 05, 2005

Fever came back haha.

Initially was resting in the aft, but didn't want my last day with them so stoned.

Played soccer, basketball, then training.

Then during the debrief.

It was harder telling them than expected. Heh, fighting back the tears... of course Reu won lah. After training they came up one by one. So sweet, and when we went to eat dinner, they all ate healthy food for once hahaha.

I'll miss the buggers.

And the bugger.

Just sent him the news. Wonder how he'll react.

No turning back now, all the way!

Monday, January 03, 2005

Fever's gone. Hoorah.

Really hate taking medicine. And panadol.

But what the the heck.

I think i finished half the packet of panadol over the course of the weekend and today ahahaha.

Went to see the doctor just now. Got plenty of meds for the rubbish sore throat and phlegm and crap.

Hate seeing the doctor.

Hate getting medicine.

Probably because I really couldn't swallow tablets last time.

Always end up getting stuck somewhere then I'd taste the damned bitter stuff and end up throwing up.

Now its much better liao.

Probably because of all the crap supplements I tried taking last time. Some really tasted like crap.

Trained liao haha.

Was trying damn hard to take a nap just now then got a sms to go outside collect something.

So sweet haha, really needed the strepsils, the fisherman's friend which I bought really is most disapproving to the respiratory system... so cold.

So, hopefully by tomorrow everything should be ok I guess.

Will be the last land training with them too.

Thursday will be going somewhere else for training. Will see some brothers which had to leave last time also. Will be a noob again haha.

Dunno how to tell them tomorrow also... will think of something, but don't want to just disappear without a trace.

Will also send him the letter of 'resignation' at last, I guess. The one that I was going to hand in during year one but ultimately didn't.

Sunday, January 02, 2005

Fever....
doh.

Its times like this that you realize how good it feels when you're not sick. Even though you're not feeling anything.

hrm.... I wonder how much panadol and anthihistamine one cant take before one gets an overdose....

Oh well.

Saturday, January 01, 2005

New years celebrations over at darren's house.

Burnt the roof of my mouth on his mom's awesome mee siam.

Brought salad and shared a turkey with Yixue, Junwen and Dennis. Had to cut the veggies in the kitchen, where there was curious stares from ice, and darren's younger siblings haha O_O.

Hahahaha put some matt Kimchi in the salad. Lovely reactions. *grins*

Oh, the turkey was the best turkey that I've eaten in years.... wasn't over-roasted or over-cooked. Darren's dad helped to heat and add some black pepper to it too.

Sore throat started acting up so I walked home at about 2am. Only took me 15 minutes to get home... not bad.

And today the sore throat's worse. Argh bloody annoying.

Tomorrow's an important meeting. Probably the last that I'll go for, then they're on their own. I've come to the conclusion that I'm positive that they will fall down, and screw up once I leave.

BUT, I also know that they'll get up. And be stronger. They'll learn, and eventually the cycle will come full circle again. This I know because I trust them so much.

The next week's pretty uncertain...

Hopefully no fever or flu due to this sore throat... I'm already sneezing and its spread to the nasal passage. I don't want to go there for the first time and train with them being sick.

And hopefully the captain will let me go on thursday, so that I may see the team one last time during land training on tuesday.

So its going to be a new beginning... quite sad that you know that a part of your life is going to end, and that things will never be the same again.

But its time to move on. Been stagnant for too long. I've guided and encouraged, as I've promised myself to do just as Hong did for me. I know that I'll need to train with the new team now to expect more of myself, mentally and physically. After all, the reason why I joined a certain db team in year one was to see how far I could go. Now, that calling is leading me to another place.

But like Jo said, it should be exciting, and with the leaving of the old, comes the new.

nyp, all out.
