Friday's performance's sound system cocked up totally. Stupid school told live audio to shift the speakers back to the side of the stage because it was "blocking the logo of the backdrop". Thats some lameass shit going on down there.... so anyway the speaker was screaming straight at the piano and mic which would very easily trigger a feedback loop.
Stoned at the watersports booth awhile. Damned funny game Melissa came up with. They called it "fear factor", with 3 black boxes with covered holes big enough for you to fit your hand in. The challenge: put your hand in and retrieve a marble for your prize. But what they didn't know was that we put some living things in those boxes.
First day someone bought baby frogs... geez. And I can't believe they didn't buy any food for them so.. yeah, by the end of the day they were either squished by the marble or pingpong ball, mashed by unsuspecting hands, or died of starvation. That was just.... horrible... so the next day they bought maggots and crickets instead. And what did they feed them? Bread. Of all things?! maggots I can understand they eat shit even, but crickets eating bread? I don't know how but they did survive till sunday, either that or they jumped out of the box when someone put their hand in or took a ride up someone's arm to literally suprise the hell out of some girls.
Some of the reactions we got were quite interesting too. Guys were like "oh ok, yeah..." *raise eyebrow*, *squint eye*. But the girls would break out into deafening sopranos of terror when they took out their hand to see what they found, or when we let them look into the box after they retrieved the marble. But some girls were even more steady, they only raised their eyebrow... wah......
Boonsan came over and we headed to the weights room for a bit. I wasn't exactly too keen to work on anything else besides legs because there was rowing the next day, but... I guess its some stupid thing for dragonboaters, to do weights with a senior which you haven't seen in a long time is a sacred thing... Then a face I haven't seen in a long time - Chester appeared. He was leaving on saturday to study in Australia so he wanted to meet some of the guys for weights and dinner. Boonsan bought him a farewell present, damn funny... Chester was like "Zhe4 yang4 wo3 bu2 shi4 gan3 dong4?"
Did weights with them for a while, then Jintian arrived for a run, then Steve happened to walk by. It was good to see the guys back together again, last time I saw them together was during my first month in the team, before Chester left for NS and Steve left to concentrate on his studies. Then Boonsan and Jintian went upstairs for a run, leaving Chester and I in the weights room. We talked awhile about courses and army stuff. It seems everytime I am about to go someplace, Chester is leaving from there. First dragonboat, now NS. He was the captain of the SAFSA dragonboat team and also was a national rower, like Boonsan is now. Did weights with him and, he is very wudi! He bench pressed 40kg per side all the way down and all the way up.
Thats another funny thing about Chester, almost everyone in the team past or present has developed some form of rocking or swining during weights, but his form is very controlled. Like Tianhong's.
The current team arrived to keep the booth stuff and while I was talking with them Chester dissapeared up to the track to join the others as quietly as he arrived.
