Eee.... more and more Jabezians are blogging now.
[ego]Looks like I started yet another trend[/ego]
lol
Added the posters that I've been working on up to the Pics link on the top left.
Sleeeeepy >_<

....
Was getting Rendy hooked up to Ultima online last night till 1am. Yay, yet another has fallen for uo.

We managed to play some badminton yesterday after all. The badminton team left 1 empty court for a while so we played there. Ugh, quite rusty... smashes going too slowly. Then stephen was abit slow at times, hehehe. We managed to find 2 extra rackets in the clubroom, so we had an abundance of rackets instead of a shortage which I was worried about. So Rendy, Stephen, Jeremy, Jonny and I managed to play. Did wts before that, with some of the canoeists who happened to be around. Naresh is damn funny, trying to give me a new nickname "sleeping beauty", because I dunno how he managed to see me sleeping everywhere.

Walked to the bus interchange with the guys, then saw my handphone... 2 missed calls. hrm...

Not having caller ID helps you hone into your 6th sense. Apparantly Caroline called to ask me to go over and help finish up the leftover food from the piano ensemble orientation. So, walked back to school and up to the piano room. Still had food at home so I snagged 3 fishballs. Yummy.

Then went over to the grand piano and played for a while after "chasing" chek yao away :p
Sweet. Stupid thing never goes out of tune. Played some random rubbish, experimenting with tonnes of stuff throughout. Hrm... meeting tomorrow for the performing team, I wonder what I'll play. Probably my mononoke score again *grins*
I have yet to see how good the new intake is. Caroline says a couple of them are pretty good. There's even a couple self-taughters, freestylers and fusionists :D At last, hopefully will be able to assimilate even more styles.

Wah... my butt aches. Duno why. Maybe it was the burpees on tuesday.

Had a long discussion with caroline about the upcoming piano ensemble recital in september. She wanted to have 80% classical because "Piano ensemble needs to have a classical image". Sheesh, don't bother about the image lei. Luckily I called her yesterday and found out about all her plans for the recital before she had gone furthur or even finalizes stuff without discussing with me first. Hahaha, She's very... "planful"(?) indeed.

I didn't want to enforce any genre restriction because I am strongly against the playing of the piano to act like a robot for the olden american classical composers. Stupid geezers. But yeah, most pop sounds converted to the piano lack any desired technical proficiency suitable for a performance. All in all, we both agree to want to support any compositions or custom arrangements/fusions in the performing team for any performances. I'm glad she can agree, since she has composed some pieces of her own, too.

Some bad news, just got a call from Jonny. Apparantly Ivan said something about ME wanting to change the dragonboat training days to weds and fris (?!). When I only asked if we could ask him to open the weights room for EXTRA training on those days. What a uber miscommunication. Ben was like confused and asked Jonny to find out whats going on. Glad I cleared things up with Jonny. I just hope Ben doesn't think I'm trying anything funny, like taking training days into my own hands or something. That's insane. Like, he already said that time "I don't mind you joining the canoeing team, but at least, keep me informed." He must think I'm doing some funny things in between the two teams. I mean, Dragonboating is my first priority. And I only want to make Ben proud, but sometimes... it's just weird to talk with him.

More bad news. By the time Stephen went to book the courts in the afternoon, everything was fully booked. Shiiitty crap. If teh badminton team is havnig training today we can just forget our plans about playing. I hope its a staff reservation, tho. They hardly fill up all the courts. I was slightly annoyed that Stephen refused to book the only open 5-6 slot, just so that any other group who would want to book it wouldn't add to the crowd in the hall, since we are looking for someone's empty space, rite? Ugh, I guess he had a tiring lecture or something. Nevermind, we'll play by ear.

Come to think of it, I think like... 80% of my this log consists of training days extra training days. Its not like don't have a life outside of training or the piano ensemble... but... here at attachment, there's really nothing interested to say.

Been pretty slow today, so I did up the recruitment poster for the dragonboat team. Rather nice, I must say. Am now working on the concert poster for the upcoming piano ensemble recital.

Wahaha... will sneak in some time to work on MUGEN too... *snickers*
Missed Tianhong during yesterday's training. Missed his retarded "so slow ah" during running, and "don't swing lah" during pullups. There goes the one who set the standard for me. Now, every single guy whom I knew when I first joined the team 2 years ago is gone. So much has changed, there are new buddies now, Stephen, Jeremy, Dylon, Rendy. Sometimes I wonder if I'll be missed when I leave the team next year. Its sad how life's paths tear us away from each other time and time again. But what matters, I guess, is the period of time which we had with each other.

What am I to do?

My first brother, is gone.

Pffft... what I always do - keep busy, do things I love and stay happy.

Yesterday's training was okie, 4 small rounds around the school. I retardedly lagged behing during the final 300 metres to dash like an idiot for the last 100metres. Was so high and out of breath after that. Pushups a nd situps were insanely easy. 2 sets of 20, buahahaha. Then Ben made us seniors do circuits. WTH. Didn't lag behind too bad for running, pushups situps were a breeze, but geez... you have no idea how hard it is for a tall person to do burpees. Then... legs all woozy, ran to the pullup bar. Helped push up juniors until I ran out of breath >_<

Then, pool rowing! Yay. Got picked to be front rower by ben again. Then guided the juniors during entry/exit drills and stroke drills. Then for the 1 on 1 coaching period, Ben picked my guys, Rendy and Willy and brought them behind to coach them himself. Hehe, see Ben? Can tell they will make good rowers, right?

Alot of the new guys are doing very well, but there's this one guy, Jeffrey. Was in track and field and soccer last time. Legs very powerful, but arms ahh... powerful also lah, but dunno how to control. maybe he's trying too hard. Johan did pretty well. Then it was the seniors turn to do 3-2 minute drills. Sat in front again. Whoo... been a long time since we did minute drills. Kept fidgiting around to find my proper positioning during the first set.. then... finally. Found it. Woosh! Ahahahaha, just kept doing full pulls. Then for the last set I did the charging stroke and picked up the pace. Heard some complaint behind to "slow down." But we were going at a perfectly acceptable pace. Like Ben said: "If you cannot keep up, then something is wrong with your stroke." This is the only time that I can contribute and show the guys behind that something is seriously wrong/lacking in their stroke. Especially people like BD. Don't think your standard is there already lei, if it is, then you would be able to keep up with a faster stroke rate and maintain a powerful stroke throughout at the same time.

Going to play badminton with Jeremy, Stephen and Rendy today. Then weights.

The amazing race is over. We gave up at the 57th checkpoint out of 60 due to lack of time. Afterwhich, they told us that the deadline was extended by 1 hour. Hilarious, aren't they? Well we weren't too ahead anyway, and the team dynamics sucked terribly.

Leadership. I dislike those who think that they are king which must lead the royal army into battle. Those who act like everyone MUST follow what he says, those who think like they have the final say. That is not a TEAM. That's a rulership. A team discusses everything with each other. A team's leader always talks of the team as "us" or "we", and not "you all", or "you guys". That is what killed the team dynamics. Yes, I blame Adrian for our terrible placing. He didn't even consult us about sleep and just kept making us move for the 3 days without sleep. Heck, I didn't care. I slept in the hitch-hiked lorry, truck, bus, cab, mrt, on the road, in the middle of the pathway, i didn't care. Joyce was pissed at him, and huda, with her two bursted blisters just endured on without saying a word.

Whatever, I didn't let that ruin the experiences for me. The checkpoints were awesome, very eye-opening experiences. We formed allies with a couple of teams, then finally formed a close bond with this team from nus and ntu. See ming, this army tactical operator or something led us through the most INSANE shortcuts through the trees, hills and shruberry. We even bashed through plants. I liked the shortcuts very much, but it just proves that it doesn't take an army specialist to win. While we were taking the shortest route, other teams who went in a totally wrong way to the nearest road, then took a taxi or hitch-hiked got there sooner than us. Hitch-hiking was very critical during the race. Due to us having very limited cash, the cheapest transportation alternative to get us to the next checkpoint was important.

Day one:
200 teams at the startpoint. Everyone was clapping and cheering away at the minister's speech. I just stood and watched quietly. What the heck was everyone so excited for?

Went to places all over the pasir ris/changi area, some of which included:

Old changi hospital- with us armed with only 1 torchlight at 12am. If you looked anywhere else besides where the torchlight was pointing, you'd see only darkness, and some random shapes. After we found the flag in the middle of the hospital basment, we made our way out to plan the next route. I went out back to some dark room with a lightly humming generator. Very very like silent hill. I looked into the pitch black room and didn't dare go in. Retarded. Next time if I have a torch to see whats inside I'll chiong in.

Singapore new water factory - Really nice building. 4 of us had to finish 10 600ml bottles of new water. Then, the rest point inside the visitor's centre. Heaven! I've never seen a cooler visitor's centre before! Air conditioned, with soft rubbery floor like those you find in the newer playgrounds, and there was a pantry, and showers! Unbelieveable. But king adrian decided that we rest there for only 45 minutes. Shirt smelled aweful. But we had to wear it throughout the race, so what to do? Joyce helped me cut the sleeves.

Day two: Walked around like a zombie until the sun came up, then I felt more alive. Joyce kept commenting that I was so quiet. Well, what was there to talk/discuss about? King adrian had the final say in where we were going or what we were going to do anyway. Besides, I'd rather just get to the next point ASAP and just not say anything. She asking if I was pissed of at someone/something. Not really. Even though stuff wasn't going too well, I could still go on. I'm not one to throw a tantrum or act pissed like a little kiddy when I don't get my way.

Singapore Expo MRT station - Singapore Expo and the mrt station look really nice at 4am. Nicely architectured. Which made me wonder... what exactly is this damned huge building used for? Conventions? Like Suntec city or something?

Ming village - Very china. Very hot. Very humid. Very lets get out of here.

Unknown train station - Was quite fun walking on the old train track through the trees and bushes. We had to catch 3 live grasshoppers for the checkpoint, which nature girl- huda quickly accomplished while I was still trying to catch one of the little buggers. Next we had to walk through a train tunnel through mud so we took our shoes off. First, it was icky and sticky, like the "shit in kallang" - only not as deep, then it was red, watery and cold. Half knee length wasn't too bad.

Jurong bird park - Top of water falls. Very very hot. Very very humid. Very very crowded. We had to fold a parrot out of the paper with given instructions. Took about 40 minutes to figure it out and keep the paper from getting drenched from my sweat.

Dragon kilns - Pots. Lots of pots. Nothing else of interest except this nice shelter over a pond there which I discovered.

Frog farm - Had to pick up 4 frogs and put them in a plastic bag. The ugly things looks very icky at first, but I knew I had to pick them up no matter what. I touched the fat creature, then put my index finger and thumb under his belly. And he only looked at me and didn't move. I felt his little rib-cage under my finger as I picked him up and he still didn't move. I though to myself "what an incredibly dumb, cute creature." I put the 4 froggies in the bag and ran around the building, then passed it to the rest to do the same for the required task and Adrian had to kiss the frog to end the task, buahahaha. Some poor girl who had to kiss the frog early looked terrible, she kept trying to motion herself to not puke, hehehe.

Singapore indoor stadium - Made a bolan out of socks and string. So that's what they call those metal kinetic balls. And then, I looked around. People were eating... yes... weird stuff. The one thing that I dreaded the most from watching fear factor on tv. They were eating the duck eggs. Yes, with the dead baby duck inside. Yes, it was on fear factor before. And there were black fried bugs of some sort. Well, at least they were fried. We were given a wrapped up aluminium ball to eat. Opening it, I was even more horrified. It looked aweful, and we deduced that it was a cooked animal heart of some sort. The station master assured us that it was halal because huda was malay. But the sight and smell of it.... Ask me to to do 300 pushups till I collapse, ask me to run 10k till I'm breathless, but to put this thing in my mouth would surely kill me. Yes, my puke activator is very sensitive. In the end, Adrian quickly ate 3/4 of it, and joyce at 1/4 of it. They... looked like it tasted good. I guess it tasted like chicken liver or something. But the smell was really nasty.

Fort Canning - Followed instructions and made a mouse out of a long balloon! On the first try and without it bursting like the other teams. Yes, fear my l34t finger skills. Then I had to drink some kind of bitter tonic which they claimed was malay herbal viagra. Yes I made the mistake of taking a little sip to find out just how bitter it was. The station master said that it was a great meal supplement so I just dumped it down. Didn't feel like puking at all, good job, Reu.

The sun went down... and I entered zombie mode again. By then we had hooked up with another team, Sinying, Ken and Seeming. We hitch-hiked and got free taxi rides to our other night time destinations as I zombied around with the teams. Some guy from the other team commented about how big size or how much muscles I had but how come cannot tahan a little night activity. Chey, they weren't in any canoeing or dragonboat before mah, how to compare. But I guess I just couldn't be bothered to psycho myself awake. It doesn't matter how big or fit you are. I just needed sleep. And when I need sleep I wanna sleep, so I'll zombie around with the team until we can sit down for 5 minutes to wait for the rest of the team so I can take a quick nap, but I won't act grumpy, no, just follow around quietly.

Day 3 - The sun came up again. Sweet sun.

Unknown deserted highway - We had to sit down, hold hands, and with our feeth touching the adjecent guy's feet, get up altogether. Failed a couple of times, but after I had done some consideration to our centre of gravity and force points, I pointed out that we should hold past the elbow, and sit closer together and we got up with no problem. Army tactical officer Seeming led us through some shortcut around sembawang army camp. Long walk, but not as long as what we did later.

Mushroom farm - We had to eat baby raw shitake mushrooms. Tasted aweful at first. Then I remembered... I was supposed to like these things, so I chewed it to a pulp and swallowed it. Haha, joyce said that she spit them out later.

SAF yacht club - We had to go sailing. Saw some T2s beside the sailboat that we were supposed to use and I soooo wanted to jump in and paddle out. Some ncc sea kids were doing some canoeing drills nearby. So envious, was I. Adrian paddled the little sailing boat, and I had to problem with the rudder. That is, until the strong winds started blowing, and the sail decided to bring us away from the beach despite all our efforts to turn and get back. We had to get towed back by a motor boat. So sia sway. 2 Canoeists, blown out to sea on a damned sailboat. Need to play around with a sail someday and find out how to work it.

Sembawang wilderness - Army tactical specialist Seeming led us through even more fun and insane shortcuts yet. Then we came along some sand. Cracked mud, yes, that's how hot it was. We wandered around for so long, then discovered that we were on the wrong side of the river, so we had to make one big "U" around the water to get to the flag. Woohoo. Ran out of water to drink. 12 O'clock sun, walking in the sand/dried cracked mud = worse than a sauna. I threw off my shirt onto the handle of my bag as we continued to walk to keep cool. Finally, after 2 hours wandering the wilderness, we found the checkpoint. So much time wasted, and we still had to walk all the way out. Runner's knee acting up, could feel it for a while. Made a note to take more glucosamine when I got back.

We finally made it out. And headed to a shop to feast on 100 plus and iced lemon tea. Filled out bottles, and headed to chinatown for the next checkpoint. Our next stop was a shop called "Boss no in, any how sell."
...

Close to 3pm, no more time, so we gave up. We broke open the emergency handphones and called for our disqualification.

Everyone was so drained, and went home. But I knew where I had to go.

Took a taxi down to kallang for the finals of the canoeing nationals. Managed to collect a good amount of data on the finalist's forms. Samantha made it into finals but place 5/6. Not bad, Samantha. Xue Li asked what I was aiming for. She seemed pretty impressed that I told her IVP gold. But I don't see any reason to aim any lower. I may have a slower start in canoeing, I may not have the "heritage" or background, but I'll fight harder. It's arrogant to think that you can out train the other canoeists in such a short amount of time, I know, but that's my way, the only way. I must make sure that I progress extremely fast with my collected data as soon as possible.

2 new songs up on my mp3.com server! Click on "My music" on the left bar to get to em. Will be away till sunday, ciaoz.
Yesterday's training was ok. Running was extremely sucky. Legs felt tired at our measly speed of 2:20 minutes per big round around the track during the 7th and 8th round. I better check my pace length next time, was either going too wide or too small. Probably too wide.

50 pushups, 50 situps. No prob. 4 sets of 8 pullups, okay also. Did 12 for the last set. Shoot. Rendy was doing 8 throughout, when the new guys are required to do only 5. -_-

Both Rendy and Al easily take up the spot for the biggest sized guys in the team already at year 1. Grrr... That's fine- More people for me to beat! *shakes fist*

Pool rowing went ok. Corrected some girls and guys. There was this cute girl on the right side. Hee... the girls tended to smile in a shy manner and look away when I went over to correct them. Haiyo.... Then had to brief the right side rowers after Jonny briefed the left side rowers. Think I may have spoken a bit too soft for the rowers at the back to hear. Haiz... didn't want to scare the charbohs lah.

Grabbed Rendy and Willy during 1 on 1 coaching session as I believe Ben would put them behind or center with me to be power rowers. They're getting much better. Rendy's got the strength and Willy's got the height. Both got the twisting motion down alrady, but need to work on their recovery.

After pool rowing Darren pushed Stephen into the pool and Thomas and me carried Jeremy and was about to toss Jeremy into the pool when suddenly, someone pushed ME into the pool so I fell in along with Jeremy. I have yet to find out who the culprit was! Nevermind... mission sabo of the birthday boys was successful. I don't think it was enough, tho. Next time will be yoko yoko. AHahahahahaha! *thunder cracks in the background*

Went to eat with Stephen, Melvin, Jonny, and wani. Managed to get Rendy and Yosef to come along. Yosef has quite a similar pattern to Melvin. It's quite amusing to see them walk beside each other. Talked alot of cock with them, then left for home.

Went home and got Rendy, and Kah yong on msn, and Yosef on icq. Chatted with Rendy all the way from 10 plus to 1. I'm developing a deep respect for him. He's damn easy to talk cock to and apparantly, he was skinny till sec 2. And started training in sec 3 to get so fricking huge. He's only a little shorter than me and 2kg heavier. Will try and get him along with Stephen and me for extra training next week, he's doing really heavy loads too. May be able to learn some stuff from him.

Hahaha found out that Di was in basketball in secondary school, too. Then we think after her short stint in fencing she went to Tennis. Never thought that she was such a sporty type until now... budden.... now that I think about it.... she is kinda violent :p

Amazing Singapore Race is today! All the way till sunday. Hrm... it should be fun.

woof
Louie decided to pung seh me and weiheng yesterday. Haiz. Hope he's feeling alright. Made emergency plans with the dragonboaters to go and watch tomb raider!

Jeremy and Stephen turned up. Super steady, we make plans 3 hours before the movie and managed to get together. Went to buy the tickets and go up to bishan arcade to play marvel vs capcom 2 again. Ahhh... the old stomping grounds. Bishan arcade is seriously retarded. When are they going to get cvs, or cvs2?! Stop wasting money on king of fighter machines! We wan cvs2 damnit! Anyway, Singapore's numbah one Hayato player back on the mvc2 machine again, muhahahaha. Did some X2 air combo chains with the help of spidey's web ball. And froze the enemy ai with the plasma chain cancel bug again. Haiz... no challengers that day.

Tomb raider kicks ass! Angelina Jolie is soooooooo cool! Wahaha, she lost weight since the last movie :D. Gymnastical stunts were awesome, but oh dear, the botched up the sequence when she was running ontop of the terracota statues a little. Her steps lacked weight, and subsequently, lacked enough effect for any momentum or push off. Nothing to ruin the show, though. Oh yes, her chinese is hilarious. And so is that irish guy's, he just sounded gay. Ahahahaha.

Not quite sure why that irish guy didn't shoot the big baddy boss when he had the chance. Which makes me realize... the only name I remember after the show is "Lara."

Overall it was a fun show. Bishan gv could up the volume of the speakers in the cinema a little, though.

Wahahaha was trying to find out how to net send to the ivlab domain, but ended up net sending the whole of STTS instead. :O

So all 163 computers in the building displayed a little popup window saying "test".

Oh boy.
Talking to weiheng about GTA: Vice city. I don't like the GTA series. Very naughty feeling to it. Besides, going around and beating people to a blody pulp with a baseball bat, or shooting people, stealing chars, blowing up stuff, sabotaging stuff is just retarded. Instead of being the aspiring hero or the sort, you're some sort of scum. What kind of retarded ambitions is this game trying to set for the younger audience?

Plus, I dread multiple sidequests after awhile. Its like there's nothing to follow and you're spoiled for choice.

Training yesterday was ok. Rendy turned up, but no sign of Dominic or hong gua. Rendy's been in basketball for 5 years, so the pullups were no problem for him although he seemed to have some difficulty during the last running lap when we picked up the pace. A couple of seniors had trouble performing the measly 3 sets of 10 pullups, tho. Had to support them a little, plus some juniors, go shoulders.

Learnt a couple of new names, too. Al, from sports and wellness, finished NS, was training for NS before that. He's insanslly huge. Reminds me of Jintien. He's very cautious about lifting safety and proper forms, typical of someone who's either been injured doing weights, or has had someone close to him get injured doing weights.

Willy's frickin tall. Maybe about 1.85? taller than me. But he was in band for 4 years. Not much physical activity, so his confidence during weights was really low. He's very quiet but isn't afraid to try.

OMG! That ang moh chio bu from canoeing is also in dragon boat! Ahuahuahuahua. I think she's australian or something... hmmm...
Got a couple of sweet girls too, mhhmhamhamhamhamha, good morale booster.

That bugger tianhong. Somehow he realized that I was scheming and getting guys to throw him into the koi pond after training because it was his last training with us before he heads into camp today. He quickly showered while we were still doing weights, shoot. Then some of the guys were afraid he'd get mad if we threw him in since he showered and changed already. I told them it won't matter since we'll dump him in in his underwear only. Haiz.... so hamji some guys. Nevermind. Thursday is stephen and jeremy's birthday. Fear.

Went home and Shimona was baking mud pies. :D Watched Naruto. Uuuuuzuuumaki! Hmmm.. the music's damn nice. damn damn damn nice.

Got seduced by stephen to go to Bishan gym after work instead of canoeing training on the basis that the new guys orientation will be taking place, so the weights couldn't be too siong, plus I wanted to take a day off from running.

Spotted some nus dragonboaters there. Frickin hell, they were doing 20kg per side for uprights!
>_<
Fricking scary huge guys. Hmph, I can do 15kg per side now for upright anyway, just wait till I finish ns. I think if they were taller or about my height then that would be even more scary.

Headed down to school for canoeing training to see what was going on after we finished. Made up a poor excuse that I had to work overtime at my company so I was late... bad Reu. They were playing some caterpillar game. Very cute, all of them trying to huddle together and move together at the same time. Damn hilarious. Then they played the trust walk game, whereby they got blindfolded, and had to hold each other's shoulders and walk around the place. Then we took paint and smeared their faces ahahahaha. Then I went and smeared paint on some of the seniors faces ahuahuahua.

Samantha asked me to lead one group for awhile so I abliged, but after awhile I was attacked by the canoeists and ended up with paint all over my face, arms, neck, and shoulders >_< Blardy hell, more dirty than any of the juniors.

Anyway we then proceeded to shoot their legs with water guns. Ahahaha damn funny the range of reactions to the water and paint.

Some would just turn their head in your direction with the blindfold on for awhile while smiling abit.

Some would crack lame jokes over and over like "Its raining ah?"

Some would go "ahhh", "eek"

And then this charboh swung out one arm out in a helter-skelter manner and slapped me in the face by accident! :O
The next time I smeared her face I ducked down and grinned in satisfaction as she swung lighter, but hit nothing.

Particularly enjoyed shooting and seeing the reaction of this chio eurasion girl. Muahahaha. Hope she stays. *smirks*

Phototaking, debriefing, then had to meet up with huda, joyce and adrian to decide what we'll bring for the amazing race.

Decided to just change into berms and leave the canoeist singlet on to go home because I didn't bring soap to wash the paint off. Received a couple of odd looks on the way home.

Yesterday was the end of my brief venture in the piano competiton. Made alot of friends there, Xin ying, Jessica, Rebecca, Charles, etc. They were all very good, but I was dissapointed to not be able to find any other finalist who possesed a grade lower than 6. In the end two little fat brothers, aged 9 and 12 with a grade 8 and diploma respetively, and cute little 9 year old Ryan got 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Ryan's so terribly blur, when he was on stage to get the 3rd prize he tried to peep over at the score sheet in such a confused manner. The little 12 year old was very odd on stage. Expression was really exagerrated. First, he looked like he was chocking on a fishball, then, like someone was poking him with a stick and finally, like he was suffering from a chronic cough. The littler 9 year old had much better expression, but his body urked and twisted at times, reminding me of when my legs cramped up and went numb in the canoe.

They did perfect-to-score renditions of their pieces. Sadly, my own original score of princess mononoke didn't make the grade, but who can compare to the great masters of the olden american classics. Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Beethovan, Brahms, Liszt, Mussorgsky, Schubert, Schumann, Tchaikowsk; I despise you all for making our children into your own instruments. Tis a pity, I found out just moments before the competition that there was no grade given for originality, or improvisation, or arrangement. Instead, musicality, technique, showmanship... perhaps if I played FF's battle remix instead... nevermind, its over now. Perhaps one day, these young prodigies will make their own music, perhaps they will want to make their own mark in the hearts of their listeners. But I shall go back to my music. Not Bach's, not mozarts, not Joe hisaishi's and not even nobou Uematsu's.

Went to bishan gym with stephen after getting a hair cut. Then ran 1.6km on the track. Back to training... I will not lose to those who have been in canoeing since secondary school or even sec 1. I will never accept the fact that I have the disadvantage due to lack of experience, any other factor for that reason. Fight... fight to the end.

Canoeing in the morning was fun. Had some steering problems in the racing T1. Then when patrick asked me to swap boats with limpoh and use the starlum, my direction really went haywire because I had nowhere to kick. I hate the starlum I hate the starlum I hate the starlum. Balancing on the racing t1 was much better. Only capped once near shore when a wave parallel to my boat hit me, and once when I was trying to chase ezra during a sprinting set.

Grrr... Ezra seems to be the fastest, and the one giving commands today since Samantha was MIA. Just you wait... I'll overtake you in no time.

Ran down to united square for the piano competition after training. Alot of really good pianists were there.

I think that Jazz is overrated. Sure, its nice. Sure, it helps expression. But its still an outdone genre. Why won't people come up with their own styles instead? Heard this little guy play this spanish tune. Such an interesting concept of keys and expression. A couple of psychotic little kids playing insanely hard pieces with perfect precision and perfect accentuation and expression. But I wonder if the melody, the piece really means something significant to them? A score can be read so many times, and practiced to perfection, but then you're just playing what people have written down. You're trying so hard to perfect what this person did up in an instant. Why go through so much trouble just to be a robot?

I believe that music should be an expression of yourself. The melody, the story that you want to tell, the piece as a whole, the picture that you want to paint for the listeners.

Went and played my arrangement of melodies of life. Perhaps I'm about the only guy not playing classical, or jazz. I'm not even sure what friggin category I'd fall in. Pff... who needs a genre either.

I play reubenical. Or... Reubenicazz... hahahaha Reuclaz

Tomorrow is the finals. 6 other finalists pianists which I shall use this opportunity to learn from. Their styles shall be analyzed, and their techniques assimilated for the evolution of Reuclaz.

Every other finalist is either a grade 8er, or a diploma holder. It's already odd that I'm stuck with them. Anyway, if I win that keyboard I'm gonna put it in the piano ensem club room for the beginners class to use. Ai yun was worried about there not being enough pianos to teach on anyway.

Was going to go running by myself after "work", but Stephen called, so we met up and headed to my place to get my stuff. Had a very good training today, used a new secret breathing technique! Did 1.6km warmup at accelerated pace, final round going at 1:32 minutes. Then did 1.2km 100m gerschluer fartlek variations. 120 crunches, 80 side crunches. Then finished off with another 1.2km at easy pace.

Must thank my bro for the good training with me today, power to the brotherhood!
Today's total is 4km, 200 crunches. Not bad, but must push harder.
Went searching for "Novena square" yesterday for the piano competition.

Got out of Novena mrt station, walked up the escalator, and went to cross the road.

After waiting a very long time for the traffic light, it turned green and I proceeded to walk across the road.
"U....ni.....ted.... square.... eh?"

That's not the right square.

At this point, I turned around upon reaching the other side of the road and there was the hige sign in capital letters saying "NOVENA SQUARE".

Ack, I crossed the road for nothing?! Go back... crap, the counter is down to 3... 2... 1... red.

CTRL + Z! CTRL + Z! Where's my CTRL + Z?!

That was so retarded.

I crossed the other side and took the underpass back to novena square.

By which time, I saw no pianos, so I called Kengho. Yeah, supposed to be Novena square. Cross the road. yeah... but that's United square. WHAT?! You said Novena!

"Sorry, sorry, its united square" he says.

*shakes fist*

I made it just in time to hear some kid play. Technically proficient... but, odd pauses. Maybe he was nervous.

Rushed down for training after my turn. Semi finals are on saturday afternoon so I'll have to miss dragonboat training and leave early from canoeing training. *sigh* nevermind... its only for this weekend.

Made it in time for pool rowing. Heard from the guys about the insanely easy running and pushups/situps/pullups they did so as to not scare the new guys away. Hilarious.

Led out 3 new guys for pool rowing. Rendy, Hong gua and Dominic. Rendy's from mayflower basketball apparantly, very big size and fit. He had some posture problems at first, but got that sorted out in the end. Hong gua and Dominic are on the slightly fat side but have great potential in the area of power. I think all in all, they have decent psychomotor skills, and I'm such a great teacher because they were doing the stroke very decently when I was through with them. *cackles*

But they'll probably have to relearn everything next week. Its always like that anyway.

The debriefing at the end of training was so sweeeeet. Ben was saying stuff like:

Give the sport a chance, give yourself a chance
Lets see who survives
The intensity of training will go up slowly
Then he challenged them with the concept of survivor, seeing who will last the longest. In which case, where's my 1 million bucks from nyp dragonboat survivor challenge 2001? *does gimme gimme action with hands*

Which is a huge contrast, from what he said during my year:

Theres too many of you
I encourage you all to quit
The training is going to be pushed up

Yeah, everything is extremely cushiony for the new guys this year. Let's just hope more of them stay. But I can tell that Ben's thought through thoroughly about this; I think he's going in the right direction to maintain the numbers.

Will be skipping training to go down to Novena for some piano competition that kengho dragged me into. Will be thinking about the team, and the new guys. Today's their first day, and although it kills me to miss it, somethings bugging me to go down to novena so that's what I'm doing.
Reading Nat's posts on the forums now. Hmm... I think she was a good choice for cap of the girls indeed.

Took leave from work to go help out at club crawl the past few days.

Day 1:

Saw Caroline again :). I would never have imagined her to be able to organize everything for club crawl in my absence. The Caroline who wanted to skip rehearsals to go for her class chalet, the Caroline who wanted to skip practices because she wanted to go out with her friends. She's now the Caroline who managed to get everything together for club crawl, the Caroline who is doing the thought-out proposals for our concerts. Perhaps being in the exco has changed her somewhat. Good job, Vice Pres.

Went booth hopping to help out Piano ensemble, dragon boat, and canoeing. The piano ensemble booth was fine; the pianists came, helped out, all very helpful. Dragon boat too; fine except that that bugger Jeremy kept calling me traitor and snake for helping out canoeing also. The canoeists like always damn happy to see me. Always smiling and especially Yong qiang who's very brotherly huggy and playful, and Ezra's really playful too.

Sat at the piano ensemble booth every now and then, gave out canoeing pamphlets, and went around stalking potential rowers for dragon boat. It was fun playing stalker. Spotting some guy who has potential, then stalking him around to cut him off at an intersection to direct him to the dragon boat booth. After a while, you can even estimate the general route which the individual will be taking around the booths, which isn't too hard anyway, because they organized the booths to make people walk through them in a zig-zag manner through the isles. Even could tell that this guy would walk down this path, turn at the end, then walk down the path and turn to the exit, which is actually a one way entrance and he will be directed backward by the students union bouncers. I would then intersect him on his way back to me.

Then at 4pm, we found out that that piano ensemble has a performance slot. Why it wasn't on our schedule, we don't know, but anyway, due to the suddenty of the situation, only I went up to perform. In orange dragon boat training singlet. Haiyo... but I set my mind on the performance and dropped all distractions aside. The backstage crew expressed their extreme suprise by saying stuff like "dragon boat performing?" or "I would never expect you to be able to play the piano." -_-. See? never judge a book by its cover ah... Anyway, I blasted my original combined renditions of final fantasy's Laguna battle theme-FF7 battle theme- FF9 battle theme- FF8 battle theme for the whole sports hall. The piano felt abit funny, and the speakers were turned away from me, so I didn't think I sounded too well as I couldn't hear and feel myself too well. But the response after the performance seemed to indicate that it went pretty well. Naresh kept saying I was flexing my muscles more than playing on stage, but I guess playing in the training singlet helped advertise for dragon boat abit.

Day 2: Started out the morning with the piano ensemble performing. Chek yao had mic problems in the beginning, but did ok, Yang xiao's score book kept threatening to fall or close several times so chek yao had to run up and hold it for her, but I feel her concentration was disrupted. Ai yun did ok as well. I played my arrangement of melodies of life, which was carried across pretty well with the insane amount of reverb in the sports hall. Then I think the mic was turned up higher than yesterdays, cause I could hear the smudge of the notes sticking together during the battle themes due to the reverb. The backstage SU crew is very cute. Friendly bunch as I've discovered the day before. They kept whispering "expert's here" when I went up to stage, then they all crowded around at the side of the stage to listen and watch. Must've been amusing to watch them.

Got really tired booth hopping and stalking people around. Soooo drained. But tried to keep perked up. Stephen said it must've been the loud music. In the end, the booths packed up early at about 4 plus and went to eat with stephen and dylon. That dylon ah... dunno whether he's really poor or just acting. No phone at home to call the year1s to come down for training the next day because he's moving house apparantly, and no money to eat. Went to oversee piano ensemble briefing for the beginner class after some reluctance. That's the beauty of the senior batch in piano ensemble. I can trust them to handle the beginners class all by themselves. From arrangement of meeting days, to their methods of teaching. There's very strong leadership qualities being built there. And I'm glad that Yi mei is helping Ai yun out for the beginners class.

But oh boy.... 50+ signed up for the beginners class, maybe 30-40 showed up, and only 1 guy out of the multitude of girls. Luckily dylon was there to talk to him.

Went to the school gym after that and "initiated" stephen in our first training there with the situp master machine. 360 situps in varying intensities. I remember when Tianhong first brought me there and set me up on the machine as well. Its pretty interesting to see how everyone reacts differently to the task at hand, though. I fought on harder and harder when I was on it. When I set up jeremy on it, he stopped occasionally, but rose to the challenge eventually. And stephen attempted to cheat at first, stopping occasionally, but worked extra hard towards the end as well.

Getting lazy to log the workout routine again... I think I'll keep a mental log or something instead.

We went swimming after that. Met a couple of familiar faces. It was just very nostalgic. How I miss the days when Tianhong and I would go swimming then hit the gym everyday during the holidays last year. Now, my younger brother is learning the ropes - extremely quickly at that. He said he wanted to be the number one rower in the team. I told him to wait till I leave next year. Hehe. But next year when I leave, he would probably be the most powerful rower on the team. Which worries me. There's no point in being the best in the team, Stephen. If you want to make it big, if you want to be number one, come to canoeing. If you're going to work so hard just to be pulled down by the weakest member of the team in the race, or be dissapointed when we don't have enough guys to go down for the race. He has the same bright hope as I once had for the team last year. And perhaps, as tianhong had for the team the year before as well. But I understand what tianhong meant last year about wanting to join canoeing. But instead of just talking about it, I actually did it. And that's why our brotherhood is the strongest string in the team. We learn from each other over the years, and we make changes for the better. Perhaps next year stephen may join canoeing when he's ready and sees things as we do. Perhaps his hope for the team will grow stronger, and he will lead them to victory.

Feel like crap.

Training was fine. Ben made us run around school and we yelled out loud outside the various canteens doing circuits as curious eyes were on us.

Then came weights. Ugh, I'm such an arrogant ass. Think that I have to be faster, more efficient, and have better form than everyone else. Maybe being near the top has brought out my over-competitiveness. Near the top? At the top? Sometimes I think that the team's standard has dropped since my first year. I keep thinking that there's no way that I can be at the top right now if Roy, Jingwei and Chunyi were around. Maybe that's true. Or I just have to overcome my achilles heal first - running.

Still no signs of returning pains in the knees, so It's all still good. Maybe when I overcome this aspect, then I'll be happy. Or I'll still be as pressurized.

Damnit, I should damn well be at the top. Training two extra days a week, with trainings during the holidays too. Even doing air-paddling infront of the mirror every damned day. The other guys don't know what kind of standard I'm forever trying to catch up to. I feel like I'm chasing a fading memory - of how I'd die every training with my yr1 seniors. How can they understand the amount of pressure I'm under? And they think that I'm a power-rower. I'm forever needing to catch up to weiwen, to jingwei - those were the power rowers.

Screw this. I'll fight my way up then screw them all.

EEeeeeeee.........

Earlier this morning some guy came in and asked shirley not to use broadcast radio on her com because they are monitoring the net. Freaky. That means every page we visit is being monitored? Trust singapore techonologies to have such strict security measures. Hi surveillance guy, I see you. I'm going to leak info to... Sadam! Yes! And there's nothing you can do it because I'm going to run a broadcast radio to mess up your incoming bandwidth router, then use a popup spawner and bring up multiple decoy pages. Or, I could just hookup a modem to this computer to my own private isp account and leak information there.

Seriously... if someone really wanted to leak stuff, he wouldn't be so dumb as to do it so obviously, and there's nothing you can do if they use the right precautionary measures.

Going bishan gym with stephen and dylon now. Ciaoz.
Scheming with Weiheng to drag Louis out for a movie on friday. I hope he goes, miss that ass.

Maybe I should try and psycho him to join canoeing. It'll be more fun than dragonboat, I think that would be good for him. Wonder what current state his mentality has evolved to after so long. I hope he's alright.

Had the most awesome day today :)

Woke up at 6:50 for canoeing training. Grabbed two sausage mcmuffin with eggs for a light breakfast. Mmmmm....

Then headed to cheers to purchase the proper hydrating and replenishing liquids for a long day of training.

But they were out of 100 plus.

No 100 plus?

Yes, no 100plus.

What kind of 7-11/cheers type of stall runs out of 100 plus?! Nor did they have h20. Hence, I settled for a 1.5litre bottle of mineral water, and a small bottle of gatorade.

Went down in the racing T1 again. Used a low seat this time. Last week was more scary, got a racing t1, plus high seat for my first training. This week, the low seat proved to help in balancing the canoe a little. Or maybe it was psychological. Stroking has improved, I managed to keep up with some of the pacing canoeists for a while. Getting better at getting the t1 to move straight. Used a flite paddle, then at the end, I borrowed hong da's brasca IV again, and I was flying. Flite may have a similar curvatured blade, but the brasca is still insanely light.

Then, towards the end - it rained.

Heavenly.

I looked up and, around me, and I saw only water, with the beach, and wall at the far ends. The surface of kallang basin dancing vigorously with the precipitation.

I looked up,

and smiled.

This is where I wanted to be.

Capsized a good amount of times during turn arounds due to the choppy waters. But I made good progress on my stroke. managed to feel a good catch, recognizable from dragon boat. I did about 16 X 400 metres back and forth the beach.

Stopping every now and then to jump onto the beach and stretch my cramping legs

to take a break and hydrate myself

to backstroke leisurely lugging the t1 after capsizing in the middle of the basin.

Sheesh. I think backstroking with the boat is more tiring than actually canoeing it.

I started talking to the boat, and figured that it got tired of carrying me around, and wanted to swap places.

Fine.

Not like the thing can paddle itself anyway.

The canoeists are a fun bunch. You can tell the difference with them, whom you can tell enjoy the sport besides training, and the dragon boaters, whom are all about training, often mindlessly.

After canoeing training, I glugged down the bottle of gatorade to recharge myself for db training.

Did a couple of interesting sets... shh... ben's secret training.

We did rowing drills 2 pairs at a time, and when it was my turn, ben asked the team to look at how forceful my pull was. :)
They haven't even seen my more powerful right side yet. May seem egoistic, but I do believe, that after 2 years rowing the dragonboat, I can tell that, if everyone could pull at least as hard as me with my technique, then we can do very well for the race.

But maybe that won't happen.

That's why I'm going to excel in canoeing.

And when I'm ahead of all the other canoes, ahead of my team. Then they will know why.

Downloading the trial version of Macromedia flash mx now. *sigh* Low budgeted temporary projects suck. I'm going to have to swap chassiss with Vincent again in 15 days when the trial for swish runs out. Today's swap with yao feng went pretty smoothly.

Oh yeah, found my cutting board from yr 1 last night after training.

I got it during the first week of life in the school of design in NYP. A free folder from art friend which I had happily put my cutting mat and time table in. One day I went to training, and after the ordeal, totally forgot about it. Never to see it again. Low and behold, 2 years later, last night, I saw Wani walking around with it. At first I asked her how she got her hands on a year 1 art kit, then she told me that she was clearing out her locker and didn't know what to do with it. Turns out, 2 years ago they were asking around for whos it was. Then someone said to her "hey, you have a locker rite? Put inside first lah." And so, it emerges after all this time.

Those were they days. When I feared training more than anything. During Ben's psychopathical training. Ben pointed out last night that the recruitment for my batch was a failure. Maybe the seniors then picked the wrong type? I don't think so. There's no way they could've been wrong about every single one of the 119 others who signed up with me. It wasn't a failure, not to me. Today, I have dug myself deep in this team. Perhaps I'm nearer to what I saw and wanted when I saw how close the seniors were back then. During training, even on outings.

But now, all are gone.

All who joined with me.

And all whom I had joined.

All is left is the new generation. My generation. My team.

But I miss my brothers.

Chun yi, one of the strongest reasons why I joined in the first place. I saw everything I wanted to get from a team sport in you.

Roy, for showing me that even though you were a tough captain, you had your shortcomings to overcome also. The battle which you fought during your last year with your knee problem is what reminds me that I too, could overcome my own injury.

Jingwei, for regarding me as one of the team, even when I was the youngest among our outings.

Joseph, for the encouragement, support, and inspiration to succeed. Even when you left, I remembered your encouraging smile during the ordeals.

Weiwen, for showing me what it meant to have brotherhood. Perhaps you were the one in the team with the strongest brotherly ties to Roy and Jingwei.

Lccorp1997 Louis, My DMDian year 1 brother during those first few weeks. For being my equal, yet superior, to strive for during my earlier times.

Jin Tien, for showing me that you can be as huge and powerful as a russian tank, but as quiet and meek as a mouse.

Tian hong, my brother. I will miss you the most when you leave for camp. Your tutelage played a big part in the turning point of my life in the team.

Now, the new team must make it for ourselves. WE, are the new dragons. WE are the new fighters. WE are the new team.

But have I lost some hope in our team somewhat?

Some may say I'm putting one leg out of the boat by joining the canoeists. Maybe they're right.
I'm not going to train so hard, just to expect to LOSE AGAIN during the next race because we don't have enough commited guys, or just plainly don't have the numbers.

NYP Dragons, I want to believe in you. I want to believe that we can achieve the glory that our seniors brought back.

But, not so easily after the last race.

This time, I'm going to fight for myself also. I am going to strive for myself, my race. And in so doing, I will become stronger for the team. And if you let me down again, at least I still have my race... my new dream.
*sigh*
Another day with not much to do here at attachment. Things'll be picking up soon, though, so I may not be able to blog as often next week.

Going to cut hair later after work. Yes, I'm a super disciplined freak who has to cut his hair every < 2 weeks or I will feel like something has been.... compromised.

Yesterday's training went pretty well. I missed about 3/4 the first round run around the school tho, because was late from attachment. D'oh. Then Dylon was lagging behind during the final 200m dash. Waited awhile for him, but then sped off but couldn't catch up with the rest because I was too far behind already. Pissed off, must go running on the weekend.

Ugh Dragonboat training right after canoeing training on sat. Going to be a shacked day.

Just had to point out something from the rules for the Amazing Singapore Race which tickled me:

12 Force Majeure
12.1
SAC, its appointed staff and officials, affiliates,
associates, and the sponsors shall not be liable for any
cancellation, delay, postponement or any change in the
conduct of the race caused by circumstances beyond its
control including but not restricted to acts of God, acts of
the public, enemy, decrees or restraints by governmental
authorities, strikes, war, riots insurrections, civil
commotion and other causes of such nature.

Interesting that they'd put something related to religion in the rules.
Hmmm... Caroline called. Apparantly, Mr Ong, the section head of the school of IT asked her if the piano ensem could perform for the graduation ceremony. She's ecstatic. Probably because she can perform for her beloved tianhong again. Problem is, he asked for us to play for up to 1 hour, and he asked for students from the school of IT and Design only. That makes... Caroline, Joshua, and me so far. To play for 1 hour. That's like, quite a big stretch for us. Usually for concerts we have about 8 pianists to play for 45 minutes. Going to have to start recalling all the pieces we've played previously I guess.

Went to do wts at bishan gym with Dylon and Stephen yesterday. Did chest with Dylon while Stephen did arms cuz his "neh" is too big already. Ahahaha.

Dylon kept up pretty well, for having not trained so long.

Bench press
15 reps 27.5kg per side
15 reps 30kg per side
12 reps 33.5kg per side
10 reps 33.5kg per side

Inclined bench press
15 reps 15kg per side
15 reps 20kg per side
13 reps 22.5kg per side
9 reps 25kg per side

Flys
15 reps 51kg
15 reps 51kg
12 reps 55kg

Reverse raises
15 reps 5kg
15 reps 7.5kg
18 reps 7.5kg

Went to eat with them later, talking cock and whatnot. Had a blast.

Then went home to the broken-stringed violin, since the shop was probably closed then. Weiheng said something about tightening the bow. After much staring and analyzing the bow, I have found out that yes, you can screw the bottom to tighten the hairs. Just kept tightening it until it couldn't tighten anymore and I was afraid I'll snap something again. Tried to play... scratchy sound. So, aha! The wax! The more wax I applied to the bow, the nicer the sound seemed to be, so I furiously rubbed the bow for about 5-10 minutes until when I played white powder would drop onto the violin. Ahh... but the sound was good.

All I need is to buy a new set of strings and fix it up and I can start practicing.

Then joyce called late at night. Seems one from her team for the Amazing Singapore Race has ruptured. So after thinking about it for a while... I agreed to join up with them. D'oh. Then I found out that its on the weekend of the canoeing nationals. Crap, I wanna watch! I'll have to rush down to watch after the race on Sunday then. *sigh* Look up, Reu, it'll be fun.
All right, team, assemble out of the bus!

Good, let's go, and stick together.

Yellow leader, you're moving too far ahead, fall back!

Okay team, wait for traffic....

Those behind there, hurry up!

Road's clear! Go go go!

Stick together, team, that's it.

Entering operation point building now... everyone stay close

That's it.... keep moving...

Spotted! You've been spotted! Evasive maneuvers!

Put hand in bag and pretend to search around! Quickly!

Almost clear.....!

Move out of sight....!

Yes!!

Mission: Sneak-into-office-without-security-pass is a success.
Congratulations.

Hmm.... changed the layout and stuff. I guess I should put up some more tracks up on mp3.com.
Yesterday was the first dragonboat training of the semester! With... pool rowing after the usual track activities!

It's been such a long time since we had pool rowing, due to sars making the school shut the pool down. I never knew how much I missed pool rowing... was grinning like an idiot during the sets. My stroke's improved. Can do an forceful full pull, exerting from start to exit with a scarily huge backswash. Ben made us swap sides. The first time in 2 years has he done something like that. I must say that it was very effective for the team, checking all our motions all over again. Coached melvin, then JonathanTan. Melvin's stroke can make it now... all he has to do is apply that in the sea, but haiyo... JonathanTan ahh.... must practice more yah.

Went to try out the full pull stroke with tianhong. I think that I'm about the only powerhouse rower left now that Jintien's gone. Oh yeah, I must teach dylon the power stroke so that he can chiong with me next time.

Waited for the canoeists after db training, because Samantha asked me to get one of their training singlets. Seemed to have some serious meeting going on. Going to Bishan gym with stephen again today. We turned to each other and at the exact same time, went "tomorrow wack which part?". Scary...

Then melvin stayed to wait with me while the rest of the rowers went off. Ivan locked the room so I'm going to have to get the singlet on thursday, and the canoeists continued their tensioned discussion outside. I think they were sorting stuff out about the training regime. It must be have been hard for Samantha, but she seemed to take things pretty well. Then there was more stuff brought up, even mention of a "traitor". That's deeply scary. But I'm glad to hear that they've sorted everything out and all is good now. The team will grow as a whole because of last night's meeting.

Anyway, it's my birthday today. Going to celebrate with a generous amount of training in bishan gym after attachment with Stephen. Mom and Dad got me a sleek blue violin in the morning. Yes... I've always wanted to have some sort of solo instrument to go with my clarinova-rendered orchestrated pieces. The feeling and depth of a flute... or a violin, is not something that can be emulated digitally. Went to play with it after showering, and I snapped one of the strings trying to tune it. Augh... I'll wait a little longer then suprise mom with the news.

I seem to be cursed with disastrous starts recently.

Canoeing = capsized during 1st minute
Violin = snapped string during 1st minute

I must never bungee-jump, or parachute, for such disastrous first tries could prove to be fatal.

Weiheng told me to get "Euro Strings".
Hmm... I wonder if the shop in Bishan has those.

Sitting down on the MRT and finding out that your pants fly is unzipped = $39.90

Calmly bringing your deuter bag over to rest on your lap to cover up = $89.90

Putting your 1.5 litre bottle of 100plus into your bag... = $2.30

...while stealthily zipping your fly underneath the bag = priceless

I'm gooooood....

Went to Bishan gym with stephen yesterday. Got the shock of my life, looking at myself in those mirrors; looked huge compared to last time in those same mirrors. Can't even remember when was the last time I've been there... last last december? Lugging assisted pullups every day because I couldn't do even one back then.

Quite hilarious. About 2 years ago, I joined dragonboat at 1.83cm and 60kg. Now at 1.83cm and 73kg and am still needing to put on weight.

The free weights seemed to be heavier than the ones in school. But thats probably because we did 2 shoulder press sets to failure.

Yesterday's stations:

shoulder press:
25 reps 7.5kg
20 reps 10kg
15 reps 12.5kg
15 reps 12.5kg

front raise ... memory is failing me....:
Um.....
20 reps 5kg
20 reps 5kg
10 reps 7.5kg
15 reps 5kg

parallel front raise:
20 reps 5kg
20 reps 5kg
20 reps 5kg
was it 15 or 20...

side raise:
15 reps 5kg
15 reps 5kg
15 reps 5kg

shrugs:
15 reps 20kg
15 reps 20kg
15 reps 20kg

Hm... I'll have to log sooner after training next time. Can't remember very clearly.

After which we tortured ourselves in the toilet with bitter bitter tumblers, and went to buy some clothes around J8.

Hm..... training with DB today. I wonder what Ben will make us do.

Ack.
Why do I always think that I'm in trouble? Then feel guilty when people find out that I thought that I was in trouble?

Why must I always think that the problem is with me?
Just got off the phone with Caroline. Was messaging the pianists to find out who can perform for next week's club crawl, and Ai Yun said that Caroline just asked her yesterday.

It was good to hear her sweet assuring voice, made me smile. She's taking care of the meetings and club crawl so I can relax abit. Am still waiting for replies from the student affairs office and school of design regarding my leave to go down during the 2 days.

Woke up early today, did air paddling, and went to bed doing air imaginary air paddling. I'm obsessed. I remember the last time I was so excited about something now - during my MUGEN days. Always imagining new special and super moves, and waking up thinking of combos for Evil Ken, and later, Evil Ryu. Let's just hope my days in canoeing will produce as good a results as my days in MUGEN did.

*sigh* That dumb autodesk guy still isn't here yet. When's that license coming?

Tossed and turned again last night. Was still visualizing the air paddling drills. Woke up early, reached kallang early.

On the pathway along kallang leisure park, there was the sound of a little bell coming towards me from behing. "Had the dog from yesterday gotten a belled collar?" I thought. "He's back for my breakfast again!" I closed the wrapper on the egg mcmuffin and turned around with a frowned expression to receive an odd look from the cyclist who had a bell tied to his bike.

The serene waters of kallang basin were filled with the flopping paddles of the multitude of chinese high school canoeists along shears bridge. That many canoeists in the distance, flopping their little paddles like see-saws; looked like a bunch of beached, suffocating fish. Their coach was sitting on the ledge, giving out corrections as they paddled in and turned back out. Recalling yesterday's disastrous starting capsizes, I wondered when I would be able to balance that well in the canoes. Ack, and jiaolian wants us to train for K1s, which are like... much harder than yesterday's t1s. Don't worry Reu, the balance will come in time, you're a damn fast learner, or you'll keep training damn long until the damn balance is damn well achieved.

The starlums are easy as pie to balance now. But geez... very cramped. Left lower back kept cramping... then legs went numb a few times. It almost became to bad that when I desperately paddled to the beach to do some stretching, I got out and put my legs in the water and couldn't feel anything. Like... when you sit on the toilet bowl and lean forward to read something then both legs cramp. Almost fell down into the knee deep water which would probably have killed me due to my malfunctioning supports. Thank god that's the last time I'll be in that boat... hopefully. Next sat Samantha wants me to try the red boat. Adjustable seat and kicker sounds so good.

Stephen gave me his glasses to safe keep when he was doing an H rescue drill. Was about to return it to him after the drill when his boat bumped into mine and I dropped the glasses into the water and we both watched in horror as they sunk into the brown murky depths. Feel so guilty about that >_< But he's all "nevermind lah", "the colour wearing out already". *nods* good patient character.

Bernard's getting on my nerves nowadays. It's not like he's doing anything... but that aire... It's familiar. Too familiar in fact - the james ego. What the hell... I'm not prejudice to people. Mustn't start now.

Did some air paddling with Jiaolian after washing and keeping the boats. He keeps saying I "have a very good phyisque to be a kayaker". Which I find damn odd. Never had anyone comment my physique positively like that before. It was usually "Wow, you're damn tall." Yesh, extra training is paying off. Felt very odd when he was correcting my stroke and everyone was watching, then went off to shower. There's like some uncomfortability in the air with the team now that I've joined the canoeists. I'm still a dragon, you silly people! ... maybe I'm just imagining things.

Had a very long talk with Jiaolian about canoeing, races, strokes, techniques, physics, forms, posture. I can really click with him, unlike Ben. *sigh* Managed to get pretty far with the stroke today. Until jiaolian went "Whoa... that's very good for a beginner." PH34R MY L33T L34RN|NG SP33D! Felt good to impress him, but he probably doesn't know about the 2 air paddling sessions I had with samantha, and secret training at home...

He was suprised to find out that I was graduating next year. Yes, I'll only have about 1 year to excel in this sport during school. Hopefully, dragonboating and lots of research will help me catch up to the other schools. But he said that if I was keen, I could probably go under him and compete in the opens races. Feels odd to worry about being too old to pick something up when you're only 18. Well... 19 in 3 days.

I can't remember when was the last time I felt such a spur for anything. Well.. actually... I vaguely remember... but can't remember what it was for.

Next year's IVP and nationals, here I come.

Couldn't sleep last night again... too excited about today's training. Woke up at 7... showered, packed my clothes, put on sunblock, packed myoplex and chemical X and dashed out of the house.

Managed to grab a sausage mcmuffin with egg at macs before walking down to SDBA.

On the way I heard a pitter pattering, as if someone was jogging behind me... turning around I saw nothing... then looking down there was this HUGE dog following me and smiling at me. So happy and cute... but the sheer size of these things is scary when he's looking straight at you with that panting mouth. I sped up abit... to no avail. I felt like if I started to run the bugger would chase after me and bite me. Then... to my utmost horror, I thought I heard something and turned to see an even bigger dog in white messy fur doing the same on my left side. "This is MY breakfast! Mine!" I said to the dogs, but the persistent things just kept following.

A cyclist whistled in the distance, and the dogs barked and ran up to meet him... then the shocked runner behind the cyclist.

Whew, I thought. But the white dog returned later. I plucked out a chunk out of my muffin and laid it on the floor while I brisk walked away.

Went down in another type of t1 today. Much harder to balance than our blue and red boats. Fear- the force which jumps up and and pulls the newbie canoeist down to capsize into the water. I succumed to the bastard many times today. First was soon after launching at the beach. had to walk in mud which I sank knee deep into. I thought to myself "Is this quicksand?". Luckily Hongda and YongQiang were nearby and helped me do an H rescue. Then I capped again at the bridge on the way to the beach. More quicksand....

Patrick came... he always appears to almost mockingly smile at me every time I capsize. But that guy's nice and patient. Thank god. Worse thing I need is more pressure to stay balanced in the boat. I wanted to just go up and down the beach, so that if I capped I could tow and recover, which is just what Patrick told me to do, hoorah.

Had to learn more aspects about the stroke today. It's really not like dragonboating... pull too far back, and you create unbalance. Drop too far down to the side, and you create unbalance. Jerk too hard while paddling, and you create unbalance. Managed to get the hang of the boat through Jiaolian's corrections, but made the most progress during the end, when he gave me even more pointers and corrections. Yes... the proper canoeing stroke... is only the first half pull of our dragon boat stroke.

Met Qinyong in the waters on the way back. He was like "what the?!". Ahuahau

Capping is fun! You never know when a wave from a pleasurecraft or speedboat will come and rock you, you never know when a little wave is going to rock you just when you're trying to turn around. How fun and exciting.

I can't wait to go down again tomorrow.

Did 5 sets of 10 pullups after training. Then attempted to gobble down Myoplex and chemical X. Holy crap. Note to self to NEVER mix those two things together ever again. Chocolate milk and orange juice SUCKS. I almost threw the damn thing out at the bus stop, but managed to force everything down with sheer willpower. If I ever go on fear factor... I'll fail the eating challenges, hands down.

Took a bus to braddel road at 2 plus... then figured it was too late to go to church so I just went home.

Feel like taking a nap

Zzzzzzzzzzz.....

Training on sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday... I'm looking forward to a nice rest today.

Yesterday's canoeing training was good. Did 2 rounds warmup, then 7... or was it 9 sets of circuit. 10X pullup, 60X crunches, 40X pushups, 15X burpies.

Pullups was fine, but I dropped that station after about the 4th set for fear of overtraining lats due to the day before's training. Crunches were fine... thought we were doing about 6 sets, so I did concentrated breathing really fast for each rep... too siong by the last few sets... I shall try to use that station to lower heartbeat next time. Pushups were disastrous - again. Saw all the guys doing non standard pushups; and it didn't help that I had wacked chest the day before too. In the end I followed Yong Qiang in doing compromised non-standard pushups... disgusting, Samantha really counts too fast. I think Ben's usual 20 pushups should be sufficient for that many circuit sets. Burpies was okie... sweat was really dripping from my nose like every time I went down.

Shacked.

The canoeing girls have my respect. Throughout all the sets, even though I was pushing the running a little in front, they managed to keep up pretty well.

Weights was next. Everyone seemed to enjoy my 1.5 litre bottle of 100 plus. Hehe... they must think I'm super kiasu or something. But its actually because I have a super excessive metabolic rate... plus a super excessive sweating rate, as Jonny said. Can even start dripping huge beads of sweat on the floor during weights. Then, if I don't replenish the minerals after sweating litre after litre, I'll get fatigued. Used to think there was something wrong with my recovery after running, but now a nice glug of isotonic will get me perked back up.

Did some thinking about splitting up the yr1s from the seniors during dragonboat training... I think that it will help be less stressful for the yr1s if they aren't trying to push up to the seniors standards right away. But then.... this is a team sport... no point for the seniors to push furthur ahead if the juniors need to catch up. But I think that its worth a try. Now that I think of it, Ben did try to assign me to lead the yr1s for running last year... but they ended up all over the place; didn't give them clear enough instructions to stay in line. My excuse to Ben: Some of them wanted to run with the seniors. Which was true... but I should have told them to stay together in the first place. Next time I'll instruct better.

Met some other guys during canoeing training yesterday. Eddie's a nice guy. He's graduated too, so I had better try and learn as much from him as possible before he goes to camp. Was right about him tho... asked him how to stretch front delt, and he taught me how. There's something about someone who knows exactly how to stretch every worked muscle after a set... you get only get that through lots of experience and referencing.

Naresh has the extremely lanky build of a runner. I keep thinking that he'll excel better at athletics than canoeing... will be quite interesting to see how he rows tomorrow.

You're the model Singaporean student!

You actually enjoy going to school, doing your
work and get straight As!! You even own THE

Still waiting for the autodesk guy to come down and liscence my damn

3dsmax... waiting for Mark to come and go through my brochure design...

*sigh*

Weights training yesterday was fun. Did some plyometric twisting

exercise with Stephen. Then Tianhong, with some weight lifting book

which he borrowed from National Library suggested some new bicep

exercise. 10kg per side, did one set until failure - did about 30 with

some support at the end, same as Tianhong did, then we went to do some

lighter weight preacher curls to max out bicep. Was pretty skeptical at

first, but the tightness after that set was solid. May do that in the

future.

Tianhong will always be the senior which I respect the most. The only

one that I can truly call sempai. Ever since last year when I followed

him around for extra training during the holidays and even when the

semester started, he's been a role model, and friend. But what I respect

the most from him, is that even though he's fitness and strength and

physique is all there - he's not an arrogant pig. Not like some other

people in the team I know. I think that's a trait we both share now. We

both try to "act" arrogant at times, but inside, we're always looking at

things in different perspectives, and not just our own.

Sometimes I wonder if he's proud of me, for coming this far in weights,

that I'm even doing the same tonnage as him. I hate Jackson for making

that comment a while back: "Do you know why Tianhong wanted to train

with you so much since last year? Because you were no threat, because

you're standard was too far away from him." I think that only a truly

selfish person would have the idea that Tianhong would be training with

me so that he could feel better about himself? Although Tianhong would

have said stuff like "Haiyoh, your standard cannot make it lah" last

year, it was just to push me. We would train everyday during the

holidays, swimming and weights. His weights and stamina may have been

better, but I was always the faster swimmer. And through both our

strengths and weaknesses, we we rivals with each other, to surpass each

other in our individual weaknesses.

No, nothing selfish about his intentions, just two guys, sharing a

similar goal - to improve.

Anyway, I did 3 sets of front lat pull downs with Stephen.
15 reps at 115lbs
12 reps at 130lbs
10 reps at 155lbs

Then did chest with Tianhong. I was sad in a way, knowing that this

would be the last few trainings with my brother before he leaves for NS.

No more watching to see how much he does, then trying to hit that limit,

no one to look for to set the standard. My only regret is my running.

Had I only trained smarter, and not worsened my knee into runners knee

last semester, I would probably be able to run with him. But I have to

take glucosamine with msm twice a day now. Must look out for all the

juniors with knee pains this coming semester.

Flat bench press
12 reps at 20kg per side
10 reps at 25kg per side
8 reps at 30kg per side

Inclined bench press
12 reps at 20kg per side
9 reps at 22.5kg per side
5 reps at 25kg per side

Inclined flys
15 reps at 5kg per side
15 reps at 5kg per side
12 reps at 7.5kg per side

Then joined stephen for rear lat pull downs. lats really tight, but

persevered.
12 reps at 115lbs
10 reps at 130lbs
8 reps at 155lbs

I wonder if Stephen was dissapointed with me? We're supposed to be

training the same muscle groups, but canoeing training has thrown my

schedule with him out of the window. I guess Stephen is to me, what I

was to Tianhong last year. But Stephen is much more stronger than I was

back then. And the knowledge that I learned from not only Tianhong, but

the other seniors, and research, I have passed down to him. I believe

that he can truly excel - perhaps far beyond my peak next year.

Anyway, still did the stations that Stephen wanted to do, even if I had

trained that group the day before, and will have to do it again the day

after for canoeing training - I couldn't let him down.

Jeremy came in to do weights when we were halfway through. Found out

that he was the one I was with during the shot in lite years. Remember

now, we thought that that girl looked so fierce.

Ivan said something about 3 sets being enough than my usual 5 sets. I'll

have to do a little more research into this, but he seems right with

respect to the other areas which I've done research in.

Ugh... Pecs and shoulders hurt... today's training is going to be rough.

Wednesday, July 02, 2003

Was just informed by Mellisa that I was on last night's Lite years. Shot with my mouth full with food... how sexy.

Had an interesting conversation with faith just now:

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:06 PM WHAT!?!?!?!?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:07 PM yeah loh
dragon boater cum canoeist now heh

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:08 PM sheesh... dun bluff.. u LIKE it!

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:08 PM u like being sooooo busy!

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:08 PM u workaholic!

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:09 PM bleh, its not work lah, this is fun

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:09 PM exactly.... u are sooo busy.

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:09 PM and u like it.

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:09 PM anyway, like this maybe I can beat hcjc and
njc standard... 2 land trainings, 2 sea
trainings

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:10 PM land sea ?? huh ? explain

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:10 PM plus more races throughout the year, so more
frequent peaking periods

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:10 PM u're an endorphine addict

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:10 PM erm...
land training : Running, weights, pushup,
situps, circuit, fartlek, pullups
sea training : Rowing

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:11 PM hahaha no lah, just want to push my standard
past theirs

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:11 PM oh i sea

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:11 PM u can't stand being no.2 can u ?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:11 PM yes, you ore so funny

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:12 PM not even number 2...
too many... too many better rowers out there

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:12 PM well, i can pun.. can-oe ?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:12 PM of COURSE i can

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:12 PM you row through a course btw

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:12 PM LOL!!!!!!!!

I KNOW!!!

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:12 PM ok

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:12 PM SHESSH =) HAHA

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:13 PM backsweesh ahuahua

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:13 PM ok ok u're good!

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:13 PM haha tyco

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:16 PM well, i am happy for u that u're happy. but i
do worry abt u. i support u whole heartedly,
but i worry that u don't make time for God,
and pretty soon, u'll have pushed him out so
far that there's no return.

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:17 PM u can say... u'll be up the creek without a
paddle...

a castaway...

row-where to go

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:18 PM (i am PUN Queen)

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:18 PM then I'll deal with it then, at least it'll
give me more of a challenge anyway

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:19 PM every think that it's not about u seeking God,
but allowing Him to find u ?

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:19 PM how can u be so sure when u're ready, it's not
already too late ?

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:20 PM how do u know, the time is not now ?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:20 PM then let im find me

because I dont feel a need to. When I want to,
need to, then that'll be time

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:24 PM which is why i'll keep praying for you.

like i said before, i'm proud that you have
done so much and that u're so capable. i also
worry, but it doesn't make me appreciate you
any less. mainly because i know that it's up
to God to find you and to pierce your heart
with the truth... and if He can't do that with
"conviction", then he'll do that with
"Consequences" .

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:25 PM and i know , that either way, it's your choice
to respond. and if God can't control your
choices, what hope do i have ? and He loves
you thru it all.

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:26 PM yeap, I'll keep an eye out for that

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:26 PM my teammate just informed me that I was on
last night's lite years

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:27 PM I TOLD YOU>>> .. oh no wait... i told
christon...

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:27 PM yeah, u were wearing a yellow t shirt and i
think eating with him cuz i saw the back of a
counterstrike t shirt.

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:27 PM u had that typical reuben-look

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:28 PM really me meh?
eh... I can't remember when was the last time
I wore that cs shirt... its too hot

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:28 PM heh, my mouth was full... how sexy

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:28 PM the look that says "eating is just fueling my
body.. i can't stand sitting around.. i need
to be up and about and feeding off my
endorphineS" look.

no, u wore a yellow t-shirt. christon wore
counterstrike.

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:28 PM oic

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:29 PM yeah, they caught in the middle of eating... u
didn't notice a FILM CREW ?????

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:29 PM no?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:29 PM I dont even remember when I met christon at
kopitiam?

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:30 PM WHAT ???? unless they really LOW budget! and
they used just a handheld cam

and i'm sure it's christon but even he said it
probably was someone else wearing a
counterstrike t-shirt.

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:30 PM cuz he hadn't eaten with u for so long.

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:30 PM yeah
was the yellow shirt sleeveless?

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:30 PM but i said that it could be. cuz that's how
films are made. yup.

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:30 PM yup. yellow sleeveless

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:31 PM what..,.. u can remember every single outfit u
wore to each meal ?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:31 PM no lah... I don't have a normal yellow
shirt... only a cutaway one

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:31 PM and1. And I cant even find that now

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:31 PM must've been that damned clone again

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:32 PM HAHAHAH... the one from d different dimension
? d same one who said his mom's underthings
looked like his ?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:33 PM eh? I guess so

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:33 PM it's was so cool, i flipped the channel and
there u were... jimmy was like "hey that's
rueben!" and i was like "OOOOOO"

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:34 PM and then christon told me all about ur
exploits in primary school

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:34 PM lol
damn I missed myself. Oh yeah, I was at
training

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:34 PM more? I thought he told them all already

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:35 PM no it was more detailed and VERY revealing...
like how u were always the boss

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:35 PM u were the red ranger cuz he was the captain

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:35 PM u were the big dino cuz he was the leader

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:35 PM u had freeze time powers but it didn't work
with samuel cuz he was too "fast"

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:35 PM lol
do tell
I can't remember liao

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:35 PM what's a samuel o_O

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:36 PM some kid u guys used to play with... or was
that simon ?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:36 PM simon I think

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:36 PM it's just so revealing... u were always the
leader.

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:36 PM heh
need to be numba 1

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:36 PM but it's not like u fought to be one, the
other kids just let u.

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:37 PM sort off
now I'm fighting

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:37 PM so there's a sub-conciously charismatic
leader...

why u fighting ? not all leaders have to be
called one. =)

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:38 PM I'm fighting because I need to be number one,
not the leader, but at least top

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:39 PM oic... sigh... what if you're not number 1 ?

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:39 PM can u live with yourself that way ?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:39 PM did you know we had no PE during sec 4? When I
entered dragon boat in year 1 my fitness was
like the lowest in the team

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:40 PM I guess I could, but I'll take up the
challenge to move up

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:40 PM we had no PE I mean

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:41 PM oh.. no PE ????????? wah.... so fun... hehe.

u know , ur greatest strength is also your
greatest potential for downfall ?

so like ur desire to be number one, can be a
very good motivator for self-improvement and
in many ways a desirable trait... but at the
expense of what ? that's the balance u need to
seek.

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:43 PM I'm the only one left from my batch's 120 man
intake. 120 down to 1. If the others couldn't
bear the expenses I will

faith@work 7/2/2003 2:44 PM huh ? u mean ur dragon boat group has only you
?

Reuy 7/2/2003 2:45 PM no, the seniors stayed on, but out of the 120
who signed up and turned up for the first day
of training, I'm the only one left

Heh, faith makes it seem like what I've done was a big deal. I don't think so. It's still not enough. Looking at how the top members of some of the other teams train... I've got such a long way to go for running. Damn runners knee last semester... I'd probably be up there by now, but now I have to work up from a mediocre position now. Last semester's 2.4 timing with injured knee = 11:20minutes. *pukes* Damnit... Need to train smarter and get up there as fast as possible.

Did more research on kayaking strokes. Interesting how formal gold medallists like Rossi have their hands cross over their body during the punch, when Samantha said to not pass half of your body. I'll have to ask her about that I guess. More research on Plyometric training too. I'm going to try and incorporate my burst dragon boat stroke into my canoeing stroke. A snapping pull right after a the push forward, which would be the punch, in this case. Wait... that may lead to a little too much splashing upon the catch... ah heck, I'll have to try it out on saturday. But this is definitely an area worth looking into. I remember during taekwondo training we were taught about the reverse snap after the snap to be equally important in the kick, so that it will double your force. And it works out theoretically in physics too, due to contact force and etc...

Going to do chest and plyometrics with Stephen in school later.
