Yesterday was the end of my brief venture in the piano competiton. Made alot of friends there, Xin ying, Jessica, Rebecca, Charles, etc. They were all very good, but I was dissapointed to not be able to find any other finalist who possesed a grade lower than 6. In the end two little fat brothers, aged 9 and 12 with a grade 8 and diploma respetively, and cute little 9 year old Ryan got 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Ryan's so terribly blur, when he was on stage to get the 3rd prize he tried to peep over at the score sheet in such a confused manner. The little 12 year old was very odd on stage. Expression was really exagerrated. First, he looked like he was chocking on a fishball, then, like someone was poking him with a stick and finally, like he was suffering from a chronic cough. The littler 9 year old had much better expression, but his body urked and twisted at times, reminding me of when my legs cramped up and went numb in the canoe.
They did perfect-to-score renditions of their pieces. Sadly, my own original score of princess mononoke didn't make the grade, but who can compare to the great masters of the olden american classics. Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Beethovan, Brahms, Liszt, Mussorgsky, Schubert, Schumann, Tchaikowsk; I despise you all for making our children into your own instruments. Tis a pity, I found out just moments before the competition that there was no grade given for originality, or improvisation, or arrangement. Instead, musicality, technique, showmanship... perhaps if I played FF's battle remix instead... nevermind, its over now. Perhaps one day, these young prodigies will make their own music, perhaps they will want to make their own mark in the hearts of their listeners. But I shall go back to my music. Not Bach's, not mozarts, not Joe hisaishi's and not even nobou Uematsu's.
Went to bishan gym with stephen after getting a hair cut. Then ran 1.6km on the track. Back to training... I will not lose to those who have been in canoeing since secondary school or even sec 1. I will never accept the fact that I have the disadvantage due to lack of experience, any other factor for that reason. Fight... fight to the end.
