Had the most awesome day today :)

Woke up at 6:50 for canoeing training. Grabbed two sausage mcmuffin with eggs for a light breakfast. Mmmmm....

Then headed to cheers to purchase the proper hydrating and replenishing liquids for a long day of training.

But they were out of 100 plus.

No 100 plus?

Yes, no 100plus.

What kind of 7-11/cheers type of stall runs out of 100 plus?! Nor did they have h20. Hence, I settled for a 1.5litre bottle of mineral water, and a small bottle of gatorade.

Went down in the racing T1 again. Used a low seat this time. Last week was more scary, got a racing t1, plus high seat for my first training. This week, the low seat proved to help in balancing the canoe a little. Or maybe it was psychological. Stroking has improved, I managed to keep up with some of the pacing canoeists for a while. Getting better at getting the t1 to move straight. Used a flite paddle, then at the end, I borrowed hong da's brasca IV again, and I was flying. Flite may have a similar curvatured blade, but the brasca is still insanely light.

Then, towards the end - it rained.

Heavenly.

I looked up and, around me, and I saw only water, with the beach, and wall at the far ends. The surface of kallang basin dancing vigorously with the precipitation.

I looked up,

and smiled.

This is where I wanted to be.

Capsized a good amount of times during turn arounds due to the choppy waters. But I made good progress on my stroke. managed to feel a good catch, recognizable from dragon boat. I did about 16 X 400 metres back and forth the beach.

Stopping every now and then to jump onto the beach and stretch my cramping legs

to take a break and hydrate myself

to backstroke leisurely lugging the t1 after capsizing in the middle of the basin.

Sheesh. I think backstroking with the boat is more tiring than actually canoeing it.

I started talking to the boat, and figured that it got tired of carrying me around, and wanted to swap places.

Fine.

Not like the thing can paddle itself anyway.

The canoeists are a fun bunch. You can tell the difference with them, whom you can tell enjoy the sport besides training, and the dragon boaters, whom are all about training, often mindlessly.

After canoeing training, I glugged down the bottle of gatorade to recharge myself for db training.

Did a couple of interesting sets... shh... ben's secret training.

We did rowing drills 2 pairs at a time, and when it was my turn, ben asked the team to look at how forceful my pull was. :)
They haven't even seen my more powerful right side yet. May seem egoistic, but I do believe, that after 2 years rowing the dragonboat, I can tell that, if everyone could pull at least as hard as me with my technique, then we can do very well for the race.

But maybe that won't happen.

That's why I'm going to excel in canoeing.

And when I'm ahead of all the other canoes, ahead of my team. Then they will know why.
