Went searching for "Novena square" yesterday for the piano competition.
Got out of Novena mrt station, walked up the escalator, and went to cross the road.
After waiting a very long time for the traffic light, it turned green and I proceeded to walk across the road.
"U....ni.....ted.... square.... eh?"
That's not the right square.
At this point, I turned around upon reaching the other side of the road and there was the hige sign in capital letters saying "NOVENA SQUARE".
Ack, I crossed the road for nothing?! Go back... crap, the counter is down to 3... 2... 1... red.
CTRL + Z! CTRL + Z! Where's my CTRL + Z?!
That was so retarded.
I crossed the other side and took the underpass back to novena square.
By which time, I saw no pianos, so I called Kengho. Yeah, supposed to be Novena square. Cross the road. yeah... but that's United square. WHAT?! You said Novena!
"Sorry, sorry, its united square" he says.
*shakes fist*
I made it just in time to hear some kid play. Technically proficient... but, odd pauses. Maybe he was nervous.
Rushed down for training after my turn. Semi finals are on saturday afternoon so I'll have to miss dragonboat training and leave early from canoeing training. *sigh* nevermind... its only for this weekend.
Made it in time for pool rowing. Heard from the guys about the insanely easy running and pushups/situps/pullups they did so as to not scare the new guys away. Hilarious.
Led out 3 new guys for pool rowing. Rendy, Hong gua and Dominic. Rendy's from mayflower basketball apparantly, very big size and fit. He had some posture problems at first, but got that sorted out in the end. Hong gua and Dominic are on the slightly fat side but have great potential in the area of power. I think all in all, they have decent psychomotor skills, and I'm such a great teacher because they were doing the stroke very decently when I was through with them. *cackles*
But they'll probably have to relearn everything next week. Its always like that anyway.
The debriefing at the end of training was so sweeeeet. Ben was saying stuff like:
Give the sport a chance, give yourself a chance
Lets see who survives
The intensity of training will go up slowly
Then he challenged them with the concept of survivor, seeing who will last the longest. In which case, where's my 1 million bucks from nyp dragonboat survivor challenge 2001? *does gimme gimme action with hands*
Which is a huge contrast, from what he said during my year:
Theres too many of you
I encourage you all to quit
The training is going to be pushed up
Yeah, everything is extremely cushiony for the new guys this year. Let's just hope more of them stay. But I can tell that Ben's thought through thoroughly about this; I think he's going in the right direction to maintain the numbers.
